Looking at the prospect of flying professionally I spoke with other career pilots and they told me about LightSPEED. I had flown using a Bose set before, and the Sierra set felt just as good for me. I am incredibly pleased and now four years later have never had the slightest glitch. Totally worth it for me.
I have used other "cheap" sets and they put a substantial amount of pressure on my head to provide noise reduction and also felt much heavier. I have not had any issues of fatigue while flying long XC flights. I have used the Bluetooth feature as well as the 3.5mm jack quite a bit with no issues. I can't say enough good about them.
The only thing is I use a different case to keep them in as I was concerned that the case they come with might not protect them well enough. Battery life seams to be a little over 50 hours from what I have seen (just an FYI).
They present a very professional look, without the "top shelf" price tag (which is a nice bonus when your professional image is important).
Lastly, every time I make a radio call it is nice and clear, and most important I can hear every call very clearly. It is so nice not having to either repeat myself, or asking ATC to repeat themselves. Aside from all the features, that is what is number one for me.

Q: The lightspeed sierra works for helicopters?
A: The Sierra is only made with the standard dual plugs for airplanes. However, you can get a fixed wing to helicopter adapter to convert it to a single plug.
Q: Is this model legal to use by PIC in certified airplanes?
A: Yes, this headset is approved for certified aircraft. However, it has not gone through FAA TSO testing which is a requirement of many of the US based commercial airlines (the FAA has no such requirement, only the airlines).
Q: I'm assuming the Seirra will plug straight into any kind of Cessna and work without any other items needed?
A: Hey Colin! You are correct! As long as your Cessna is equipped for standard dual male plugs (PJ-055 and PJ-068) you can simply plug in the LightSPEED Sierra Headset and you're ready to go!
Q: my 1st headset. Does it include ALL the cords, pads and parts or do I have to order anything else in order to use them?
A: Yes, everything is included with the headset to begin using it right out of the box. It includes the standard dual plugs found in virtually all civilian fixed wing aircraft, carrying case, music patch cord, cord clip, ear seals, and foam wind screen.
Q: any accessories will included?
A: The Sierra includes a carrying case, music patch cord, cord clip, foam wind screen, and the ear seals.
Q: what is the noise reduction in passive and active modes? how does this compare to the Zulu model?
A: The noise reduction rating in dB is not published for either the Sierra or the Zulu. The Sierra will have better noise reduction than most other headsets in the same price range but will not be as quiet as the Zulu.
Q: Is there a helicopter model available for the Lightspeed Sierra?
A: Lightspeed only offers one model of the Sierra Headset - the fixed wing portable model. This includes the standard dual aviation plugs found in almost all fixed wing aircraft. You can use a Fixed Wing to Helicopter adapter which will convert the two standard plugs to a single U174/U plug that can be used in most civilian helicopters. However, if you want a coiled cord with a helicopter plug, you would need to step up to the Lightspeed Zulu headset that does offer both straight and coiled cords with the single U-174/U plug.
Q: What are the main differences between the Sierra and the Zulu?
A: The main differences are that the ANR and the stereo audio fidelity, while very good on the Sierra, are not as advanced as the Zulu. The earcups on the Sierra are plastic versus magnesium on the Zulu. And, Stereo streaming (A2DP) is not available with Sierra. It is also a few ounces heavier overall.
If you need an "installed" panel powered option or a native helicopter model (without using an adapter), they are only available with the Zulu.
