The Bose A30 Aviation Headset is the most comfortable and full-featured around-ear headset Bose has ever created. As the first-ever around-ear aviation headset with three modes of user selectable active noise cancellation, it dramatically improves every flight experience. The A30 is the best combination of comfort, audio clarity and active noise cancellation available on the market. Plus, its lightweight design is FAA TSO and EASA/TSO-C139a certified, proving its durability, even in the toughest conditions.

The Bose A30 Aviation headset harnesses the power of sound to transform the flying experience. With unmatched comfort and three modes of active noise cancellation, the A30 was designed to strip away distractions and let you focus on being the best pilot you can be. Because no matter the aircraft, there’s nothing like the freedom of flight.

Bose A30 Aviation Headset Key Benefits and Technology:

  • Lightweight design with low clamping force for unparalleled comfort. A full-sized around-ear headset with 20% less clamping force than the A20.
  • Unmatched audio clarity with active equalization. Incoming signals are shaped and equalized for enhanced clarity and intelligibility.
  • Industry-leading active noise reduction with three user selectable modes. Adjustable noise cancellation modes to accommodate different use cases or personal preference.
  • Precision-focused noise cancelling microphone. The noise cancelling microphone is engineered for aircraft with “hot mic” or PTT systems to increase clarity and reduce background noise during transmission. Mic winglets also allow for precise mic and boom adjustments.
  • Robust, durable design that is FAA TSO and EASA E/TSO-C139a certified. The headset is FAA/EASA TSO certified and has passed 145 separate tests by the Bose engineering and quality assurance team to ensure endurance in challenging operating environments.
  • Removable/Side swappable down cable and mic, no tools required. Boom mic and cable can be mounted on either side of the headset without using any tools.
  • Bluetooth audio. Connect wirelessly to mobile devices, audio systems and electronic flight bags. Audio prioritization allows users to mix Bluetooth audio with intercom audio or have intercom transmissions mute Bluetooth temporarily. A non-Bluetooth headset variant is also available.
  • Shielded, durable and flexible cable. Cable is resistant to radiated emissions with a thin design that allows for increased freedom of movement and easy storage.
  • Digital active noise cancellation. Significantly reduces ambient noise, allowing users to lower radio volume to a more comfortable listening level.
  • Long term durability. Built and tested for extended use in demanding environments, having passed 145 separate tests by the Bose research and development team to ensure headset endurance.
  • Tap control for talk-through communication. Double-tap either earcup to engage low mode and optimize audio for interpersonal communications outside of the intercom.
  • Automatic shutoff. Powers down automatically when not in use. An auto-on feature is also available on select panel-powered configurations.
  • Exceptional battery life. Two AA batteries power 25-plus hours of Bluetooth use and 45-plus hours without. Aircraft-powered variants are also available.
  • Bypass communications mode. Primary intercom audio is available with or without power.
  • Five-year limited warranty with acclaimed service. Worldwide coverage (excludes wear items like ear cushions, mic covers and headbands).
  • Carrying case. Includes a strap and an internal zippered storage compartment and enhanced padding for safe and secure storage.

Bose A30 nice but not a good upgrade from A20

  • By Dale from Scottsdale, AZ on Friday, April 21, 2023
  • Pros: high quality headset
  • Review: I love the quality of my A20 and thought I would give the A30 a try. While it is lighter than the A20, it was hard to notice while wearing them. Also, to me the sound was a little tinnier than the 20 and there was a slight hiss when talking. All in all it is a high quality headset, but I just didn't think it was a worthwhile upgrade from the A20.

    Hope this helps

They are an upgrade from the A20s

  • By A Customer on Tuesday, April 11, 2023
  • Pros: Lighter feel (even though they might not be), more comfortable ear cups, better audio quality than the A20s
  • Review: I'm a relatively low time pilot and been flying with the A20s with BT, and upgraded to the A30s. The first thing I noticed was that they feel less bulky on the head, and as other reviewers have said, the pressure from the new headband is much less.
The microphone quality is definitely better (based on how my GoPro recordings sound)

Very long cord and excess packaging

  • By A Customer from Georgetown, TX on Wednesday, April 05, 2023
  • Pros: Good build quality, excellent ANR.
  • Review: Headset itself is as advertised. Nicely finished, good ANR and function. For some reason, the cord on the GA two-plug version is about 18" longer than that on the A20. Just more cord jumble to sort out in the cockpit.

The packaging is awful. Box inside a box inside a box. The second-level box cannot be opened; it must be surgically removed.

I still have no idea of the purpose of the rubber keeper for the control module.

Bose A30 they got it right

  • By James Werner from Cave Creek on Tuesday, March 28, 2023
  • Pros: Light weight, Digital, noise canceling, new feature tap control to talk through.
  • Review: This head set is great, I already have the Bose A20 and Proflight series. This head set met my expectation and more. The Bose A30 was light and didn't feel like it was squeezing your head. I am an airline pilot and wore this head set on my last 4 day trip. It was very comfortable, light weight, the sound was very clear, and the Bluetooth feature was great too. I would recommend this to any commercial or general Aviation pilot.
    I give this product a 5 star

Classic Bose high audio performer!

  • By Tony the Sundowner student from Chandler AZ on Monday, March 27, 2023
  • Pros: Light, compact and comfortable
  • Review: The Bose A30 was light on my ears and very comfortable. The 3 noise reduction settings allowed me to talk to my instructor on the low setting without the intercom while the high setting was extremely quiet while in the air with headsets, intercom and ATC. I also found the mic squelch to be smooth to the point I never noticed the mic open or close.

I will definitely upgrade to the A30 from the A20

  • By Dean from Cave Creek, AZ on Monday, March 27, 2023
  • Pros: More comfortable fit, Selective ANR settings, less clamping force, more comfortable head pad. Smaller case is a plus as well.
  • Review: I currently use the Bose A20 headset. These A30 headsets are definitely a step up. I used them on a trip to London in the B777. The 3 position ANR noise reduction is a nice feature. Allows you to hear what is going on around you if you select the lowest noise reduction level. The best feature is the double-tap noise reduction. You can tap on either side, Left or Right and the noise reduction on that side reduces allowing you to hear conversations without having to move the headset off your ear. The headset overall felt more comfortable that the A20. I like the padded head pad rather than the furry pad. There are many settings in the battery compartment as well. In finishing the case is smaller than the A20, not a big deal but noticeable. If you are thinking of upgrading from the A20 you will not be disappointed.

Forgot I even had a headset on….

  • By Noah from Deer valley, AZ on Monday, March 27, 2023
  • Pros: Comfortable and lightweight
  • Review: If you decide to buy this headset, make sure to write yourself a note that reminds you it’s still on your head before you get out of the plane. I’ve tried several headsets, cheap… expensive, and this one seems to have it all but most importantly I can wear this for HOURS, with no fatigue.

Extremely Comfortable

  • By A Customer from Scottsdale, AZ on Monday, March 27, 2023
  • Pros: Great headset, quality is nice. I really like how they cleaned up the wires.
  • Review: The headset is super lightweight and comfortable on my head. The less clamping force is a huge plus compared to the A20, I don't even notice the headset is on after 5 minutes. I don't really use the different level of noise cancelations, but it's a nice feature for when the engine isn't running.

Extremely Comfortable

  • By A Customer from Scottsdale, AZ on Monday, March 27, 2023
  • Pros: Great headset, quality is nice. I really like how they cleaned up the wires.
