The Video Recorder Audio Adapter allows you to record all transmissions (local and remote) from the helicopter intercom system to your external GoPro HERO3 HD Digital Video Recorder. It's great for creating your own aerial videos without excess cabin noise. It will record all of the audio transmitted through the intercom system, including in-cabin audio and ATC transmissions.
This is a special adapter made exclusively for use with the GoPro HERO 3, 3+, and 4 Video Cameras. Most digital records have a 3.5mm AUX In for recording, however with the GoPro Hero 3 they use a Mini USB port for recording. This adapter connects directly to the GoPro Hero 3 Mini USB port instead of a 3.5mm port.

Be advised you will need a Camera housing(Skeleton)that allows you to plug in the audio adapter permanently. Most housings are enclosed.

The USB connector that enters the gopro is way oversized. So much so, that it doesn't fit through the opening of the Frame gopro housing. Kind of defeats the purpose of recording audio with a video camera when you can't use a mount.
Had to use my leatherman to shave it down to fit the opening.

Q: Will this work with hero5 GoPro?
A: Yes, but the Hero5 now uses a USB-C connector for the microphone so you would also need to get the GoPro 3.5mm to USB-C Mic Connector. There is not a single cable solution unfortunately.
