The Video Recorder Audio Adapter allows you to record everything from the aircraft intercom system to your external Digital Audio/Video Recorder. It's great for creating your own aerial videos without excess cabin noise. It will record all of the audio transmitted through the intercom system, including in-cabin audio and ATC transmissions.
It works with devices that use a 3.5mm stereo external mic input such as the GoPro HERO, Drift HD, or any other handheld Video Camera or personal audio recorder. Or, use it with a handheld digital audio recorder to create your own CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder). If you plan on using this with a Smartphone or Tablet (i.e. iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, etc.), you should instead get the Smartphone Digital Audio Adapter for airplanes which is specifically built for Smartphones. If you are using this exclusively with the GoPro HERO3, you might also consider the GoPro HERO 3 Aircraft Audio Adapter - Fixed Wing.

A: The female part to this adapter will fit the PJ-055 (.25 inch / 6.35mm) plug which provides audio to the ear cups of your aviation headset.
Then it works with devices that use a 3.5mm stereo external mic. -

The Smartphone Digital Audio Adapter is used for when recording on a iPhone or Android type phone. If you want to record on the GoPro Hero 4, you will need the GoPro HERO 3 / 4 Aircraft Audio Adapter. It is available for Fixed Wing and Helicopter.
