6 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Previously Asked Questions

  • Friday, January 08, 2021

Q: Can this unit be powered by a portable power supply, like a small battery?

A: This can be operated with a 9-volt battery or aircraft power via the included cigarette lighter adapter.

  • Wednesday, May 10, 2017

Q: I need a two place intercom for a Piper Cob with no electrical system.

A: This sounds like it would do the trick for you!

  • Friday, May 27, 2016

Q: Can you get these to work with a wireless headset

A: No, it would need to be a standard aviation headsets with the PJ-058 and PJ-068 plugs.

  • Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Q: I have an older FlightCom IIgx. My plane does not have a cigarette lighter but I do have a dedicated power source for my IIgx that plugs directly into the "Power 12-32 VDC" input. Does the IIsx have the same female power receptacle or is the cigarette lighter plug hard wired into the unit. i.e. can I just not use the supplied cigarette lighter power source and plug it directly into the power source I use with my IIgx? Thanks.

A: The 12-32 VDC cigarette lighter adapter that is included with the FlightCom IIsx Portable Mono Intercom is not hard wired to the unit and is technically an optional power source.  The adapter is plugged into the female "Power 12-32 VDC" port and unless your power source accepts a cigarette lighter male plug, that adapter cannot be utilized.  When the cigarette lighter adapter is not in use, it is to be removed from the unit itself and you can then power the unit via a 9V battery.  Because it sounds like you are using a customer power source/adapter cable to power your current unit, we cannot verify that using such a cable would work...as the unit is meant to be powered via the included cable or by battery power.

  • Wednesday, December 01, 2010

Q: Will the Flightcom IIsx run off either 12V or 24V aircraft battery throught he cigarette lighter power cord? Is it also battery powered by an internal battery - and if so, what kind of batteries?

A: The included cigarette lighter adapter is 12V to 32V so it will work fine in either case.  Yes, it can also be run off a single 9V battery (not included).

  • Thursday, July 31, 2008

Q: What plug does it take to insert into the Co-pilot transmit jack, on the FlightComII?

A: The connection on this intercom is for the Dual Plugs on Fixed Wing headsets (.25" and .205" plugs).
