The Rugged Air RA200 Aviation Headset offers reliable performance, comfort, and excellent value for student pilots, flight instructors, flight schools, and passengers. With 24 dB passive noise reduction, Clear Hear audio speakers, and a noise-reflective microphone, the RA200 delivers clear communications with ATC, instructors, and passengers.
Designed for comfort during long flights, the RA200 features an adjustable stainless steel headband, a custom-fit padded head pad, Foam Fit ear seals, and deep-pocket ear cups. The durable headband allows you to customize the fit without sacrificing tension, while the flexible microphone boom stays in position.
The RA200 also includes independent volume controls and a 3.5mm audio input jack for connecting music or other audio devices. Additional durability features include Total Shield cabling, a tough molded Y-block, and nickel-plated dual aviation plugs.

For the price (on Tenth of a Bose or Lightspeed) this headset was REALY GOOD. No noise canceling of course but the sound quality was excellent and the passive noise reduction from the earcups was more than adequate for short 1-2 hour flights.
I don't own a set but would definitely have one as a back up or purchase as a primary training headset if cost was a factor.

A: No, the microphone isn't dynamic. The RA200 uses the M65HP-A microphone, which is an amplified electret noise-reflective microphone. That's the standard type of mic for general aviation aircraft with dual-plug jacks.

Q: Does this headset fit the plug-ins for a Cessna 162/172 (Skycatcher/Skyhawk)? The plugs that I see in the aircraft are double, and one is bigger than the other.
A: Yes, the Rugged Air RA200 Headset includes the Dual Male Plugs for Fixed Wing Aircraft. These plugs are known as the PJ-055 and PJ-068 plugs. The PJ-055 provides audio to the ear cups and the PJ-068 is for your microphone. These plugs will work in almost all civilian and commercial airplanes, even when other options might work as well. If you're in doubt, these are generally a safe bet.
