Q: Is the back of the A-2 Leather Jacket plain without any type of insignia? I prefer the Jacket to be plain without patches or pictures and decorations of any kind.
A: Yes, the outside of the jacket is just a solid brown leather on the front and back. The only design is on the interior lining of the jacket.
Q: Is the A2 the same as the Averex jacket of 20 years ago. Same jacket just different manufacture?
A: Avirex changed their name to Cockpit USA in the 1990's. They have been making these A2 jackets since the early 1970's.
Q: what would you suggest to treat the A-2 jacket with to protect it against water and stain
A: Most leather really does not need a lot of upkeep UNLESS it gets totally soaked. If you have a spot to clean, we recommend using a bit of Lexol or Mink Oil on the inside flap first to test as it will darken the leather usually. If the jacket needs to be cleaned, take it to a dry cleaner with a leather specialist who understand that the antique lamb color will totally wear off if cleaned with any solvent.
Q: I am 6'4". Should I buy the Tall size?
A: Yes, the manufacturer does recommend anyone over 6' 1" and less than 6' 6" order the tall style.
Q: Does the wind flap have snap closures at the collar and the waistband?
A: The collar is secured in the down position using snaps, but it does not have snaps at the top or bottom of the zipper.
Q: Is the leather jacket waterproof or does it need to be treated
A: The jacket is not waterproof.
Q: What is the sleeve length for the L and XL
A: Size L is 37" and Size XL is 37.5" on sleeve length.
Q: "antique' indicates to me that the leather looks "used or older" which I find more desirable than a new look. Am I right?
A: Yes, that is correct. The lambskin on this jacket is made to fatigue with wear so it gains that antiquated/worn-in look.
Q: What is the sleeve length of the A2, size small jacket? I wear a 40 long sport jacket with 34/35 inch sleeves.
A: The sleeve length on a size small would be 36 inches from the collarbone.
Q: Can the jacket be ordered with a plain lining ?
A: This jacket is only available with the inside printed lining shown in the product zoom pictures.
Q: does this jacket come in black
A: It is only made in brown leather as pictured.
Q: can you provide a sizing chart to determine e.g. large 40-42, etc? Thanks,
A: Generally speaking, Small is 38-40, Medium is 40-42, Large is 42-44, and XL is 46-48, and XXL is 50-52.
Q: is the antique lambskin jacket heavier than the 21st USAF A-2 jacket? and Do the sizes run the same? Do they "fit" the same way (or does one run larger/smaller)?
A: Both the modern A-2 and the Antique are the same as far as heaviness. The sizes do run the same, however the modern one is slightly roomier.
Q: Can you do custom silk screen on the inside and back of the jacket?
A: We do not do silk screening for the jackets. We typically recommend checking with any local companies to do so.
