The book follows its preceding versions in terms of layout, regulation chapters, etc. However, ASA cut corners on two important (IMHO) features:
1. The "Suggested Study List by Certificate" is no longer available.
2. The font style used for the terms in "Definitions and Abbreviations" was changed from italic bold to simple italic. (Perhaps ASA wanted to save on ink. ;-D )
Since the italic and regular font styles are very close in terms of shape, and there is no other separation between the term and its definition, that makes it harder to find a specific term - it simply blends with its definition.
As a CFII, these two factors were important enough for me to shed two stars in the rating.

Q: Does the 2027 FAR/AIM book include new FARs for MOSAIC?
A: The 2027 FAR/AIM includes Phase 1 of the MOSAIC rules, which became effective October 22, 2025. Those changes cover the sport pilot training, certification, and operating privilege changes. However, since the book''s regulatory content was finalized through May 5, 2026, Phase 2 of MOSAIC (effective July 24, 2026) — which includes the new Part 22 airworthiness certification requirements and removal of the old "light-sport aircraft" definition from 14 CFR 1.1 would not be in the printed book. The good news is that ASA''s free email update service (included with the book) will notify you of those Phase 2 changes. The eFAR electronic edition that we have DOES include the July 24th Phase 2 update.
