Great Value for the money. by Allan from Miami FL USA
Pros: Price. Comfort. Noise canceling. Good communications. Battery life. Cons: A little large, would prefer a mike able to switch from either side if possible. Review: I bought this in January and have used it on average 3-5 times a week as I am flight instructor with several students. About 5 weeks now. I did not want to pay $850-1000 for a headset. I previously have used one of the inexpensive Lightspeed QFR headsets, but wanted noise canceling and more comfort as I am flying more often now. The noise canceling works very well, and communications are very clear and no problem at all. Volume control is more than adequate. I have had to replace one set of batteries, the ones that came with the headset. The second set still has a ways to go. The mike is long enough for me. But the mike comes from the left headphone, and is not able to be used from the right headphone. I wish it was usable from the right side as well, from an instructor's point of view as I am sitting in the right seat. It is a large headset and is a bit cumbersome to handle, but once it is on your head, it is fine. In flights of up to 2 hours so far it has remained comfortable. When noise canceling is off, it is still usable as well. I have changed the Lightspeed case for an ASA bag, as the Lightspeed case does not have the same pocket arrangement for spare batteries, etc. Overall, I am very pleased with a headset that does what I need, while flying often and yet it was a very reasonable price. I would buy another.

High-Maintenance by Lawndart from Pennsylvania
Pros: ANR & warranty support from Lightspeed Cons: Short mic boom, inconsistent audio, overall bulkiness & tendency to break/malfunction. Review: Decent for the price. Lightspeed has fixed my headset for free 3 times but no longer responds to my e-mails. The headband cracked in half twice, the audio control box goes sketchy from time to time and you lose volume/anr/audio in one or the other ear & the mic boom almost makes it to your mouth. I finally just crazy-glued the foam ear-pieces on because they liked to fall off.

Cheaper and more comfortable than Thirty 3G by Robert from Austin TX USA
Pros: Comfort, price, turns itself off Cons: Hard to tell visually if turned on, but no big deal. Review: This headset is a good mix of comfort and price.

I would buy this product again by Robb from Fargo ND USA
Pros: ANR, Quiet, comfortable Cons: Bulky Review: I am a student pilot so I do not have a lot of experience with headsets but I can certainly tell the difference in this headset from previous ones I have used. The ANR feature works great. I have not used the music/cell phone interface but have a friend that has the same set and said it works well. A little bulky but I would buy this headset again.

Excellent quality by ty from Panama City FL USA
Pros: Quality, great fit Cons: heavy bulky and cup covering material MAY not last Review: Brand new pilot and this is my very first headset, so please take my review with a grain of salt. Im impressed; good build quality, good performance, and fits well. Its going to take a little time to get used to wearing it as it is heavy and kinda bulky. The ear cups are covered with a very soft and comfortable leather-type material, but it also seems like a very thin and light-weight material that may not stand up to the test of time. I recommend always taking the time to wipe off the body oils and sweat from the ear cups prior to storage. Included bag has open interior pockets, including a velcro or zipper on one of them would have made carrying extra batteries a little easier.

One Small Problem... by Travis from Placerville CA USA
Pros: Great ANR, Volume control, and Secondary input volume control for the radio. Cons: Had a small problem with the wiring Review: I bought this headset and within the first month with about 20 hours of flying on it, the ANR kept cutting out. I told LightSpeed, they had me send it in on a monday and I got it back the next Tuesday. LightSpeed says they haven't seen many cases of what my problem was, but overall the headset is great!

Good headset but comes up a little short by Melvin from Encino CA USA
Pros: Comfort and price Cons: Mic needs to be about 1-2 cm longer. Review: I started out wanting to buy the Bose but couldnt bring myself to spend that kind of money so I settled on the Lightspeed 20XLc. Its so comfortable that you'll forget you have it on, but, the mic is a bit short. I sometimes have to readjust it or repeat myself when talking through it.

Works well by John from Lafayette CA USA
Pros: ANR works great, price is right Cons: bulky Review: Great headset. I don't see how paying twice as much would ever be the right thing to do. This headset really cancels noise. It's a little bulky, but not enough to get in the way.

I can't believe i bought this by A Customer from utah
Pros: none it is a waste of money Cons: uncomfortable and poorly made Review: In 12 years of flying this is the most uncomfortable headset that i have ever worn. It is painful to wear for flights of greater duration than thrity minutes. Hearing protection is ok. For the price get a pair of DCs get the same amount of hearing protection and get a comfortable headset. Or spend a hundred more and get the telex stratus 30xt. It is a hundred times more comfortable and the ANR is ten times better. I will never buy a lightspeed product again.

Great gear for the price by Helo53Driver from Panhandle Florida
Pros: Best balance of performance and expense I could find Cons: Coating on earcup seals is flaking off after 5yrs. Review: I have flown 20 yrs in military and civilian aircraft wearing helmets, david clarks, lightspeed, bose and many more across the spectrum. I have owned the 20XL(not C) for 5-6 years and enjoyed wearing them. Yes, more money will buy you a better ANC headset, but there is NO headset available that will block ALL noise. 29-30db penetrates the skull, so you will hear all noise above this level. The goal is to mitigate noise damage. My 20XL's are good for 24db and I ALWAYS fly with foamy's. Maybe due to my military background, but wearing foamy's with the worst headset available will protect your hearing better than the very best headset alone. That said, the ONLY 'problem' I have had with my 20XL's is the plastic coating on the earseals is flaking off. The tempo-foam is still in good shape, but when I take the headset off I look like a tire retread shop.

Good buy by A Customer from
Pros: Light weight & Comfortable. Cons: Size, with the 1" padding they are quite large Review: Over all I would say this is a good product. I have used it for about 3 months now and I hasn't let me down. As long as you take care of the headphones they should not break because of them being plastic. All radio calls come in clearly and the mic also transmits without problems. The battery life is good on them as well. Since I have purchased the headphones I have not changed the batteries on them. They might have a power save feature because I have left the power on the ANR for 2 days straight and the batteries were still good. I recommend this pair for those who are willing to spend a bit extra cash and those who do not want to spend the +800 for the high end headphones. This was my first pair and I haven't regretted the decision.

Great value by David from Port Saint Lucie FL USA
Pros: Cost and light weight and easy to use. Cons: Mic needs to be a bit longer Review: I have used this product for several weeks and had a mp3 player plugged in and I thought it worked great. Very comfortable and light weight. Battery life is long and easy to use.

I'd buy it again by Joey from Newport News VA USA
Pros: Great value for the cost Cons: A little bigger than others that cost 2x as much Review: It met all expecations, provides great value, active noise attenuation works very well. Comfortable for long periods of time. We liked enough to order additional sets for passengers.

by Bruce from TX
Pros: Quiet, clear mike, IPOD / Cell interface, comfortable Cons: Large, could be an issue for tall pilots. Review: I dont know what the last poster / poser ? was talking about. I fly in class C all the time and have used it in hard IFR without even a "say again" from ATC. The mic is extremely adjustable compared to the old metal booms. Sounds like operator error to me. I am going to buy another one for my wife so she can hook in her IPOD and cell phone. Great feature we can both listen to what we want to. Over two and half hours and you dont even know it is there, very comfortable.

Great bang for the buck by Michael from Fort Worth TX USA
Pros: cost for ANR, phone/audio connectivity Review: If you're looking for the best bang for your buck on an ANR headset look no farther than the Lightspeed 20XLc. I bought a couple sets for passengers and backup if needed. While expectantly not the Zulu this is still a good runner-up. There's a lot of passive sound protection around the ear cups but you won't notice this once you have them on, and the ANR functionality compliments the set even further. If you're looking for an inexpensive ANR headset definitely give these a shot.

I would recommend this product by Debora N. from Fort Myers, FL
Cons: Alittle fading out noticed, but it may just be a mic adjustment per my instructor Review: Normally I go for the best product, which is usually the most expensive. I wanted the Bose X headset.....but I am a student pilot and decided to go for the middle of the road product. I was very surprised with the quality. Yes, it is bulky, but it is light and the nose reduction is great and I find it very comfortable for me.

Lightspeed is great by Tyler M. from Boardman OH USA
Pros: high quality, comfortable, all features of a high dollar headset Cons: a little wide or bulky Review: Very comfortable, great noise cancellation, love the ipod and cell phone hook up. That works great, if ATC calls it mutes the music but it comes right back on after the transmission or conversation has ended.

Not why I thought by A Customer from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada
Review: Yes it has some noise reduction and It's better compared to what I had (a very cheap headset) but I've seen much better headsets (probably more expensive I know). It's the correct price for what you get.....

Two thumbs up by CoolGunS from Perth, Australia
Pros: Light, comfortable, excellent ANR response. Look great. Cons: Little bit bulky compared to Bose Aviation X Review: Product arrived from the USA to Perth Australia in 5 days. No damage, all was good. The first thing I noticed was that they were a little bigger than what they appeared to be in the photo, but this isn't really an issue. They are light and comfortable to wear. The batteries supplied are reasonable, however I upgraded them to some decent re-chargables. Sound: I tested the sound output from the speakers and they aren't too bad at all when playing MP3's or when plugged into my stereo. The sound compares to a decent pair of standard stereo headphones. The microphone also meets the grade, nice and clear when I made a phone call with my cell phone plugged in. Durability: These headsets are made of a lot of plastic, I can see some people may have issues with the adjustable headband being plastic but if you look after them they should last you a lifetime. The gel earmuffs are nice and thick and reduce passive sound well. I'd recommend rubbing hand lotion in and around them regularly to keep them in prestine condition. In the aircraft I tested them with an ATC radio-check, and got a 5x5 response back for readability and strength. My instructor could immediately hear the difference in clarity over the intercom when I was talking, compared to the crappy cans the flying school's students normally used. After an hour's flying I didn't really notice them on head, so I guess they aren't too tight or restrictive. They are certainly a lot more comfortable than the David Clark pair I was borrowing. However, the best part is the Active Noise Reduction. This works extremely well. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between this headset and the Bose Aviation X set my instructor uses. Perhaps his cancels out a little better but truthfully I couldn't really hear any noticable difference. Obviously the big difference is in the price and the fact I can plug a MP3 player into mine and he can't!! I highly recommend this headset for anyone really. I don't see any need to go to a more expensive LightSpeed model unless your aircraft is VERY loud. I was testing in a Cessna 152 trainer and was very satisfied with the results.

works just fine by A Customer from Marshfield WI USA
Pros: Very comfortable and does exactly what it is supposed to Cons: The battery for the active cancellation is almost dead already, but I have flown a lot over the last month and may have left it on once or twice. Review: This is the first headset I have ever owned. I have had it for a month and it seems to work just fine. I don't have any complaints and would certainly recommend it.

Review: A noise is cut,and the reception is smooth. The flight of the long time when I used sunglasses became comfortable. There is too much thickness of the receiver.

Great Headset by Frank from Novi MI USA
Pros: Quiet Cons: Cost Review: Very quiet, lightweight. Expensive, but a good price compared to Bose. I'd say the performance is equal to (or darn close) the Bose.

Great bang for the buck by Brent from New Orleans LA USA
Pros: Very comfortable, excellent sound quality, relatively inexpensive Cons: slightly bulky, but only an aesthetic issue in a 172 Review: The 20XLc ANR has definitely met my expectations. Although a little on the bulky side, I'm amazed at the comfort and sound quality the 20XLc offers as compared to the vice grips I was previously borrowing from my local flight school.

Very Nice Headset by Todd from Charlotte NC USA
Pros: Comfortable, Good ANR, Good long range flight comfort, Plug Cell/Audio Device right in to headset Cons: Tad Less Quality than Bose Aviation X Review: Overall, excellent product. I own three headsets: Bose Aviation X, this one (Lightspeed 20Xlc), and a Flightcom. That is also the cost (highest to lowest) in that order. The Bose Aviation X is definitely the best of these three. But, in terms of sheer value for the money, the Lightspeed 20Xlc is by far the best. The 20Xlc is comfortable, even with wearing it more than an hour. Not quite as comfortable as the Aviation X, but at about one third of the cost, you can buy three of the 20Xlc for one Bose Aviation X. Plus, the ANR capability of the 20Xlc sounds to me about as good as the Aviation X, maybe a tad less. The 20Xlc also has a few features that the X does not. You can plug in a cell phone and MP3 player or other portable device right in to the headset using the supplied cables. We have used the cell phone feature a few times. Just after we have landed, I have my wife plug in the cell and call our party to tell them we arrived. I am contemplating buying a second 20Xlc. I need 4 total headsets, and the the 20Xlc is definitely worth a second take.
