Standard Size (6.5" x 9") Double Sided Color Checkmate Checklist.

Please note that the picture is a sample only.  Your checklist will be specific to the aircraft model shown above.

CheckMate makes a dramatic difference in everyday confidence and ease of use, but also in urgent situations. Whether it's an engine failure, icing problems, gear trouble, an electrical or engine fire, or a radio out problem, the emergency procedures are immediately there.

Concise and Durable
The plastic substrate used on the Checkmate eliminates the problem of delamination inherent in laminated paper products. CheckMate also eliminates the flipping of pages to search for needed data for each phase of every flight. (You will also find there is no annoying "Refer to POH" common in other checklists). Every word is justified and every word is exact.

Front of the Checklist
The top 2/3's of the front is the actual checklist section covering everything from INITIAL to SECURING. Checkmate is frequently told that this is the most useful, most complete, and most intelligent checklist in the industry. Professional pilots will tell you, that as long as they are complete and concise, single page formats are most always preferred. Safety organizations across the U.S. endorse the Checkmate format.

Below the checklist items, in the yellow section, are all the V speeds, not just a partial listing. The V Speeds are in front of you at all times, not tucked away in a chart somewhere. They even include V speeds for Va and Best Glide at lighter weights. This is important since these speeds are slower with less weight. All speeds are given in KNOTS and MPH. The bottom section shows proper configuration and data for DEPARTURE, CRUISE, and ARRIVAL, such as speeds, flaps, power settings and special notes.

Back of the Checklist
On the back are the EMERGENCY procedures with the subject headings highlighted in red; No time lost reading excessive wording or critical time lost searching through a flip book for the correct procedure …. just concise, logical data that is INSTANTLY available. Again, you will notice our procedures are complete.

Next are light gun signals and common frequencies. The yellow box in the corner gives useful information such as loads, fuel type and capacity, oil, electrical, and tire information. Data you actually use on each flight.

Checkmate Checklist Features:

  • By Far, The Most Complete Single Card Checklist On The Market.
  • Over A Decade Of Time-Tested Evolution, Assuring You Of Having The Most Comprehensive & Accurate Data Possible.
  • Intuitive. Data That Is Logical, Concise, & Complete.

Flying Club Skyhawk

  • By John Thompson from Illinois on Thursday, July 25, 2019
  • Pros: Everything right out of the pilot operating handbook.
  • Review: Many of my students are members of a local flying club. The club members have developed their own checklists...but none incorporate an approved emergency procedures section. In preparation for their checkride, I have recommended they buy and use a CheckMate checklist. It has everything right out of the POH in a standardized easy to use format.

    Well done, CheckMate!

Pretty good checklist

  • By David from Clay Center KS USA on Sunday, May 04, 2014
  • Pros: Durable, easy to read, pleasant, quick emergency reference and V speeds
  • Review: This is a very good checklist. It is very concise and easy to use. It has helpful reference speeds and emergency procedures included for quick reference. It is colorful, pleasant to look and at and very readable. It is durable and right sized.

As of 2014, most airports in the US have the policy to leave the transponder in the on position, however, the checklist still suggests squawking standby during taxi. It is very good for IFR operations, and just slightly time consuming for beginner pilots. However, my students have been able to readily adapt.

    I highly recommend this checklist.

Great for flow

  • By Rich from Philadelphia PA on Monday, August 12, 2013
  • Pros: concise, at-a-glance presentation
  • Review: This is a great brief checklist. There are others that are much more thorough/procedural. This one covers all the essential items in a few words at most.

I'm still a student. I found the more verbose checklists more useful for the purpose of learning procedures, but they're a liability in flight and I'd end up relying on the instructor to either manage the checklists or the plane while I hunted through the list. This list is single-sided and all in-flight procedures are readily available.

Only potential concern is that emergency procedures require flipping the card. Those should generally be done from memory anyway and referenced after-the-fact.

The preflight/exterior section isn't really written from a flow perspective. All the key items are there, but I use a separate checklist for preflight written from a walkaround perspective.

Bottom line though is that I'd recommend this checklist to anybody.

My Favorite Checklist

  • By Jeff from Abbeville SC USA on Wednesday, March 07, 2012
  • Pros:
  • Review: CheckMate check list are the only ones I use. I am a flight instructor and this is what is in my plane and what I encourage my students to have in their planes. These check list are large and easy to read and I like them much better that having to flip pages in the book-style check list.

  • Pros: Everything right out of the pilot operating handbook.
  • Cons: A lot of information on one page. I might prefer multiple pages...incorporating the emergency procedures on another easy to find page. But...that's just me.
