Works to convert military plug to GA dual plug

  • By Justin from Ooltewah TN USA on Tuesday, April 29, 2025
  • Pros: Cost
  • Review: This kit does work to convert a single military style plug to GA dual plug. I am able to transmit and receive with minimal feedback; however, it does cut out every once and while. I installed this on a nearly new headset and it might be 100% user error during the installation of the microphone. However, it does not affect the usability of the headset to make radio calls. I have to turn up the squelch, but it is very usable for a passenger headset.

This was exactly what was needed

  • By Jafsonic from Rosamond CA USA on Tuesday, January 30, 2024
  • Pros: Microphone replacement works well and fits nicely.
  • Review: This was what I needed to convert this military style headset for use as a backup / spare GA headset. The conversion was quick and not too difficult. There are no instructions, only parts; take your time to see what you are doing and be careful of the foam cover on the mic as it felt like it could easily tear if over-stressed sliding it or the retaining band over the mic.

13 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Previously Asked Questions

  • Friday, November 4, 2022

Q: Can you use a simple converter for GA and leave the mic alone for the h10-76?

A: You can use the original microphone if you get the low to high impedance adapter instead of this kit.

  • Saturday, October 22, 2022

Q: Can this kit be used on a H10 13.4 David and Clark ?

A: No.  The David Clark H10-13.4 is a civilian fixed wing headset.  What are you trying to convert the H10-13.4 to be used for?

  • Monday, June 27, 2022

Q: Can this kit be used with an H10-56 model?

A: No, this is not the right product.  The David Clark H10-56 is a civilian helicopter headset so you would need the Helicopter to Fixed Wing adapter to convert it to the standard dual plugs.

  • Thursday, April 28, 2022

Q: Will this work with the DC-One X?

A: No, it will not.  Are you trying to convert a military model One-X to civilian?  If so, you will need the low to high impedance adapter.  Or, are you trying to convert the civilian One-X Helicopter headset to dual plugs?  If so, you would need the helicopter to fixed wing adapter.

  • Saturday, January 9, 2021

Q: Can I use the same adapter from this kit as a regular adapter for a Bose A20 military headset or is the one in this kit specifically for the David Clark headset?

A: If you want to convert both a David Clark H10-76 and a Bose A20 military to civilian, I would suggest that you get the Low to High Impedance adapter instead of this kit.  It will work to convert both headsets.

  • Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Q: I only bought just the adapter cable and my headset did not work in a general aviation plane. Would buying the microphone make it work? If so which microphone should I buy?

A: Yes, you will need the 1142-22 Electret Mic.  This will allow you to transmit.

  • Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Q: Does this adapter also change the impedance required to use the 10-76 in a general aviation fixed wing aircraft?

A: Yes.  The David Clark H10-76 Conversion Kit will convert your military headset into a civilian (general aviation) headset with the standard PJ dual plugs and high impedance.

  • Saturday, February 2, 2013

Q: I have a H10-76 headset that I was issued, will this conversation kit still allow me to use the my headset with military aircraft?

A: Yes, you will just need to remove the adapter and swap the microphone when switching from civilian to military use.  The adapter is super easy to remove/add and the microphone is just attached with a couple of small screws.  Keep an eyeglass size screw driver handy in your flight bag and you should be good to go.

  • Thursday, October 25, 2012

Q: Will this conversion kit work on an H10-66 headset, or do I only need the plug adapter?

A: If you would like to use the David Clark H10-66 in civilian fixed wing aircraft you would use the Low to High Impedance Adapter.

  • Saturday, October 13, 2012

Q: I want to order the conversion kit for the H10-76 headset, does this come with a mic cover?

A: Yes, a foam microphone cover is included.

  • Monday, May 11, 2009

Q: I have numerous H10-76XL that I need to plug into a PC Sound board without modifying the headset. Is there an adapter or converter box I can get for that purpose? Thanks

A: You would first need to convert them over to civilian fixed wing headsets with this conversion kit and then you would need the PC Flight Simulator Headset Adapter.

  • Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Q: Can you accidentally install the new mic upside down/or backwards or will it only work one way?

A: It could potentially be installed upside down, but if that happened you would just need to loosen the two little screws and flip it over.

  • Monday, October 1, 2007

Q: I have a H10-76 military headset. I want to be able to use my military headset for helicopter flight school where we fly the R-22's. Will this conversion kit make my headset work in the helicopter?

A: If you are going to be flying a R-22, you should just be able to get the 1142-22 Electret Mic instead of buying the whole kit.
