Works well

  • By Vince from State College PA USA on Wednesday, February 18, 2026
  • Pros: Easy to use
  • Review: Easy to use, doesn't take a lot of space. An essential item to know the exact amount of fuel in the tanks before takeoff, especially for airplanes with a fuel totalizer.

Not for bladder type tanks

  • By C182G Jockey from New England on Monday, February 16, 2026
  • Pros: I'm sure it will work with the correct aircraft
  • Review: I'm sure this meets the needs of the aircraft it is designed for, but be aware that the older 182's with bladder tanks is not it. This stick won't even go down in the tank the entire way to get to 43 gallons. My tanks are 44 gallon bladder type, this will not work with them. The description should be changed to show that.

We all know the inaccuracies in Cessna fuel indicators, and ALWAYS dip the tanks to verify.

  • By Jay from Augusta GA USA on Saturday, December 6, 2025
  • Pros: Know how much gas you have
  • Review: Flying a family member's 182 and noticed the tank dip gauge was for smaller tanks than on theirs. Got this one for the larger tanks and now know for sure how much fuel is there.

  • Pros:
  • Review: Not especially accurate in my 182. Reads 28-30 gallons when long range tanks are full.

  • Review: Excellent measuring device. I know exactly how much usable fuel is in my airplane and there is no more guessing. Well designed

Great Piece of mind

  • By CAPFlyguy from Indianapolis IN USA on Monday, September 11, 2017
  • Pros: simple see through design
  • Review: Simple to check fuel levels in the tanks. Give me piece of mind that I know exactly how much fuel I have and so I can calculate the exact weight and balance.

4 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Previously Asked Questions

  • Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Q: Does it work on a 44 gal tank?

A: This is for use in the 43.5 gallons usable tank. If you have something different you would use the FuelHawk Universal Fuel Gauge

  • Monday, January 7, 2013

Q: Do you carry a dip stick for 1998 C182 with 44 usable per side?

    A:

They only make the FuelHawk for C182 with 39 gallons usable per tank (for bladder tanks only!) or for the C182 with 43.5 gallons usable per tank.   They also have the FuelHawk Universal that allows you to calibrate it for any tank.  Or, the FuelStik Universal.

  • Thursday, June 11, 2009

Q: I have a C182P with long range tanks. Specifically, 80 gal total and 75 useable with 37.5 gal useable per tank. Is my best option to buy the universal fuelhawk and calibrate it myself since it appears that the two 182 options are not compatible with my airplane? Thank you! Jonathan

A: Yes, you would want to order the Universal Fuel Gauge as neither of the pre-calibrated 182 Fuel Gauges would work for you.

  • Sunday, May 18, 2008

Q: I'm looking for fuel gauge for 1977 182Q with 40 gallon tanks. Do you have this?

A: We do not have a fuel gauge specifically for a 182 with a 40 gallon tank, however we do have a Universal Fuel Gauge available.
