I ended up buying the RAM (RAMHOLTAB12U) to fit my ipad mini with sleeve. I have a medium cover from MagPul on my mini and the cups on this unit did not fit well. with the larger cups on the TAB12U it works flawlessly - and will now allow many many choices in sleeves/covers for the ipad.

- Review: Typical RAM quality! I was a bit disappointed that my iPad Mini, with cover, was a tighter fit than I expected (had to wiggle in the 4 corners of the opened leather cover). The spring tension is stronger than I expected -- it will hold the Mini securely in place. You have to pull the tension spring apart (takes most of two hands) then place the Mini firmly in place with your third hand ... you get the idea. One end is firmly in place, the other end pulls up/slides up. But, you get used to the method, and that's what it takes to hold the Mini firmly in place in possible turbulence.
