The RAM Glare Shield Clamp Base is designed to mount to the lip edge of a flat surface up to 1" thick. Popular mounting edges include a car side window edge lip or glare shield on an airplane. The base has two composite bolts that, when tightened, clamp the base to the lip surface. A RAM 1" diameter rubber ball is connected to the base allowing you to connect a RAM 1" diameter arm socket and connection plates to create the perfect mount for your application.
Mount will attach to flat surfaces with the following dimensions:
Min: 4.4mm / 0.17"
Max: 28.0mm / 1.12"
Material: Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum
Ball Size: 1" Rubber Ball "B" Size

Purchased for a 182Q. Clamp just fits over the glareshield without the rubber nubs on the screws. Placed a small metal strip to keep the screws from digging into the glareshield. Only holds if you have the ball and screws on the underside, if they are on the top side any weight at all pulls the whole clamp off. Put another small piece of metal on the bottom to extend the clamp out but doesn't hold much better. As someone else said......good idea, but not for this application.
Also, the ball and screws on the same side REALLY limit the movement. I didn't think it would be that big of deal but I was wrong.
