U174 adapter

  • By Jerry from Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, March 23, 2016
  • Pros: works as advertised
  • Review: Product works just fine. I wish they would make it shorter. The cable on the Bose A20 is long enough as is. Maybe they can make it without any cable; like a one piece system.

It works as advertised.

  • By MRMINAK from anchorage AK USA on Wednesday, May 23, 2012
  • Pros: Secure connection due to the A20 jack. Not loose. No errant static.
  • Review: The A20 headset functions well electronically, with a secure, firm connection and no static or cutting out, but the adapter cord could be shorter. As is, it must be coiled / secured to prevent interference with the controls.

Perfect fit! Exactly what I needed!

  • By Joe from Beachwood NJ USA on Wednesday, November 24, 2010
  • Pros: Easily adapts 6 pin to U174
  • Review: This adapter is exactly what I needed to use my Bose 6 pin in an aircraft with the U174 plug. Bose does not offer this piece and the only other option is to buy another down cable assembly for $300. I only used it a few times but it worked perfectly. The connections fit as expected and there was no additional noise. Definitely worth having if you fly aircraft with both style jacks.

Q: can be used in the original lightspeed?

A: No, for the Lightspeed Zulu headset you would need to add back in a battery box so that you can power the headset.  Therefore, you would need the Bose X Panel Powered Adapter to Helicopter Adapter which will work for the Original Zulu or the Zulu.2 headset.  If you are flying fixed wing aircraft, you would want the Bose X Panel Powered Adapter to Portable Fixed Wing Adapter.

Q: I have a Bose 10X thats panel powered, can this adapter work with my 10X and retain ANR etc. If not, Can I replace the panel powered 6 pin connector cord with a Battery powered cord for a Helicopter application. Please help !!! I love the headset and need it to work in other helicopters I fly in ?????

A: This particular adapter will not work with the Bose X Aviation Headset, however we do offer the Bose X Panel Powered to Helicopter Adapter that will work perfectly.

Q: I assume that by connecting a Bose A20 headset with an installed/6-pin plug into the heli via this adapter, you are sacrificing the ANR capabilities of the headset as there is no power supplied to the headset via the U/174 socket? Correct?

A: No, it will still have all the original functions and capabilities, including the ANR.  All version of the Bose A20 - including the panel powered A20 - have a battery box so when you plug into the U-174/U helicopter, you'll just want to ensure that you have batteries in the battery box of the A20.
