What you need as a student pilot...and beyond

  • Review: [1981 Cessna 172P Aircraft Information Manual]  The book is nicely made, with wide coil binding. It comes with a safety supplement that I believe everybody flying should read...lots of good advises.

    The one thing that I abhor is the instrument panel image (page 7-6, Figure 7-2). It's a black and white image that has so much contrast that the owner cannot really distinguish much detail in it - the items are either black or very light gray, almost white, and no shades of gray in-between. The image is almost useless. (By comparison, the 172RG information manual has a clear image, also black and white, however, with plenty of shades of gray.)

  • Review: [1965 Cessna 172F] This is a great copy of the original Owners manual for the 1965 Cessna 172F. I gave it 4 out of 5 start because I would like to have seen it laminated for durability. The paper is standard thickness and seems like it might tear easily. If lamination were made an option, I would gladly pay for the upgrade. They do it for sectionals, why not manuals.

Not quite up to date

  • Cons: Be sure to copy the actual aircraft weights and moments.
  • Review: [2004 & On Cessna 172S NAVIII]  This is almost identical to to the OEM POH supplied with the aircraft. The copy I received was Revision 3 - 12 October 2006. The latest edition at my Aero Club is summer 2007. The main difference is that up to 2006 Cessna were using the Bendix/King KAP 140 autopilot. They are now using the integrated Garmin AFCS. Functionality is much the same and Revision 3 actually contains more supplements. Anyway you still need the Garmin POH as well.

  • Review: [1998&On Cessna 172S]  The manual had all the appropriate information but if your going to charge such a high price the should come with a hard binder and the pagers should be three or four hole punched. That would make it the perfect manual and once the word got out that you packaged manuals that way pilots would buy them from you.

  • Review: [1960 Cessna 172A] At a purchase price of nearly 60 bucks, it should come with clearly reproduced pictures and graphs (which it doesn't). While I enjoy doing business with MyPilotStore, I certainly don't think this product warrants such a high price. Thumbs down.
