I would buy this headset again by Paul from Morganton NC USA
Pros: good fit, very good noise cancelling, active and passive. Cons: A little large but not to bad Review: I think this is a great headset for the money. I would buy it again. I'm a student pilot and was having trouble hearing the tower with my instructors spare headset. With these I hear everything 100% better even when I forget to turn on the active noise cancelling. The earcups fit great even over my sunglasses which also was very important to me.

After 3 years: An updated Review by Bryan from Liberty, MO
Pros: They're great when they work Cons: Replaced once. Back for repair twice in 3 years. Review: I still stand by much of my Sept 2009 review where I called this headset a good value for the feature set. The one thing I can say is that when it works I love it however, after 3 years of owning this product it has had some issues that have diminished my opinion of them.
As I write this I'm waiting on an RMA from Telex to send this particular set in for repair for the second time. As noted in my first review, the first set I received was defective right out of the box with only one side of the ANR working. mypilotstore sent me this set as a replacement immediately at no charge. I assumed that was a fluke.
After about a month of use the ear seals had ripped completely out. Telex support sent me another set but they didn't last long either. During the first year of use I had to replace the ear seals 2 more times. Now I have to say that I am a working pilot and fly 600-700 hours per year so I'm definitely putting more wear n tear on these than a weekend warrior but they are well cared for and not abused by any stretch of the word.
At about the one year mark I began having the ANR fail and a super loud high pitched squeal would just rip my head off. I could recycle the power and they would be fine for a while then the squeal and ANR failure would happen again. I sent the set in to Telex for repair. They were returned in like new condition with even the earseals replaced with new.
After the 2nd year I started having an issue where the ANR would shut off when I keyed the mic - but only if I had something plugged into the audio. It was annoying but not worth sending them back in since I fly just about every day for work and can not easily go without them for 2 weeks.
For the last 6 months or so the audio input has been cutting out until eventually it completely quit. I connect the XM radio from my Garmin 496 into the input but I am careful not to put any extraordinary strain on the connector. So now it's going back in to repair again.
On the upside, they still have 2 years to go on a 5 year warranty and their repair personnel have always been very friendly and helpful but still I'll have to rent a headset again waiting for these to be returned.
My feeling after 3 years of ownership is that this is still a headset with nice features when it works however, I'm not sure I'd recommend it for a working pilot who flies a lot. It seems to be a little too delicate and unreliable in some areas. Since it seems from reading the other reviews that these problems are not widespread I will chalk some of it up to a combination of my bad luck and the fact that I fly a lot more than the average Joe but I probably won't buy another Telex headset.

Review: Relatively comfortable headset, with excellent ANR and sound clarity. My only grouse with the headset is it's bulk (not weight), which can be annoying in smaller cabins.

good value by Paul from Spring Hill FL USA
Pros: price, rechargeable batteries Cons: none that I can think of Review: I bought this one and a new Bose an20 at the same time. The Bose is a little better but not by much so I bought two more 30xt's. Very satisfied with them.

Quiet, comfortable headset! by Steve from Bellevue, NE
Pros: Quiet without blocking important sounds, very comfortable Cons: Cord between headset and control box is very long Review: This headset is great. It is very quiet even with the ANR turned off, and with it on the noise drops quite nicely to a dull hum. It does not block out important sounds such as the stall warning or the ability to hear the engine RPM in the 172, which is the main reason I got these instead of the Telex 50Ds. The speakers are very clear and the mic seems to get the job done, I haven't heard anything bad about it.
Some people call this headset massive, but comparing it to my Dave Clarks, it's not that much larger (and noticeably lighter). Most of the size comes from the large padding on the ears and headband, it's not too different than DCs with the Oregon aero pads. There is literally zero pinching force that I can feel, the sizing works great.
This headset comes with a set of rechargeable AA batteries and will charge them for you, the only downside I found was the documentation doesn't say if it will automatically stop charging when they're full. Also comes with multiple outlet converters for worldwide use.

Good purchase, good product by Dasun from Clarinda VIC Australia
Pros: less expensive, comfortable to wear and good ARN feature Cons: size is bigger than other headsets. Review: Telex Stratus 30XT headset is great. It is working perfect up to my expectations. ANR feature is great and you can hear very clear voice over the headset. It is really worth for buying. Value for money at this price.
The only negative thing is I still could not figure out how to adjust head band pressure properly. Apart from that it is very comfortable to wear.
And also happy to deal with Mypilotstore.com. Reliable seller.

Great Product at a Great Price by A Customer from USA
Pros: Great noise cancelling and features. Cons: A little uncomfortable after about 6-10 hours. Review: As previously stated the headsets are a little large. Not really noticable when they are on your head. The MP3/Phone function is great and works well. From an 85db noise environment these headsets do a great job of cancelling both passively and actively. If the headset is is slightly broken the noise can be a little annoying, but you should adjust them and there are no issues. The active cancelling is extremely noticable and has greatly reduced my noise fatigue. I will typically be airborne for 8 - 12 hours. Not your typical aviation use. After about 6 - 10 hours they do get a little uncomfortable, but slight adjustments to their placement helps. Again, not your typical flight profile. I would definitely recommend these headsets and as far as value, they have been invaluable to me.

Very good, minor irritations by John from Marietta GA USA
Pros: Good noise reduction, very comfortable Cons: Cord too long, a little wide around the head Review: This headset is very comfortable, no problems wearing it on a hot day for three hours. Very soft ear cushions. The weight does not bother me at all because it is so comfortable. The ANR completely removes the low frequency rumble of the engine, making ATC communications clear and easier to listen to than a normal headset. The cord is longer than expected, leaving excess cord near my feet that I have to find a place to stow. Additionally the rather large control module on the cable where the batteries are stored is quite far from the headset, resulting in it lying low in use or flopping around in your lap. It does not have a nice clip to fasten the cord to your lapel like the David Clarks do, although it does have a rudimentary clip that can be used for that purpose. Not a problem though. It stands out rather far from your head, resulting in it getting caught on a 152's seatbelt when you turn your head to the left to scan for traffic. This means that you have to lean to the right to complete a left rear scan that is not possible if you have a passenger in the 152. Not a problem on the newer 172's or 182's as the seatbelt comes from the other side. I love it in spite of the minor irritations, it performs very well.

A good value for the features by Bryan from Liberty MO USA
Pros: Comfortable for it's size, Less expensive and more features than other ANR headsets. Cons: Inconvenient placement of the hand control, Bigger/heavier than other brands Review: I had to get past an initial little glitch with this headset - The first one I received was defective in that the right side noise reduction was not functional. MPS asked that I call Telex support to confirm the defect and then MPS immediately sent me another set. That whole process was handled very well.
Now on to the review - Appearance - This is a nice looking headset. Black with gray accents. The earcup and head pads are large making the headset look rather large compared to other ANR headsets. Comfort - As large as this headset is, it really is incredibly comfortable. In fact, the size issue is really only noticeable when trying to pack it in the flightbag. The earcup pads are the "around the ear" type as opposed to the on the ear type. They are covered in a very soft leather and the foam seems to conform nicely to the sides of the head. The head pad is the same way and I literally don't even feel it after flying for 3-4 hours straight. There are little cams on each side that allow you to adjust the clamp force. There is definitely an increase in noise as you loosen the clamp force but I keep it on a medium setting and it is very comfortable. Performance - This is my first headset with active noise reduction so I have little reference between other ANR sets, but I have to wonder how I've damaged my hearing by flying with a passive headset all these years. When you first start up the engine it seems pretty quiet but then turn on the noise reductions and WOW - it sounds like half of all noise and 80 percent of the low rumble simply disappear. Features - The reason I chose this headset was the great combination of features. There is a hand control that houses the two rechargeable AA batteries and has the power on/off button and music/cell input mute button. There are separate inputs for music and cell phone and both work as expected. I have a Garmin 496 w XM radio and I plug that into the music input. You can quickly mute any cell/music with the press of the mute button. You also have a power input so that you may either run/charge batteries from aircraft cig lighter power(with supplied cable) or charge the batteries at home with the supplied wall charger. I couldn't find another headset with all these features standard and it is hundreds of dollars less than other brands that may have slightly better noise reduction specs but few or none of these other features.
There's not much bad news here - but there is some. The hand control is positioned too far toward the jacks. The result is a lot of unnecessary cable length between the hand control and the headset while the hand control cannot be placed just anywhere. If I want to hang onto it in order to use the mute button, I have to use my left hand because there's not enough cable length from the jacks to place it on my right side or even in my lap. It would be nice if the mute function were automatic, eliminating the need for the manual mute, then the position of the hand control would be irrelevant. I will likely have an extension cable made to accommodate . Also - when there is a dramatic change in pressure, such as when you are doing a quick descent in an unpressurized bird, it sounds like the noise reduction is kicking on and off rapidly. I'm not sure what is causing that and it is a minor issue but I thought it was worth mentioning.
In summary, this headset is an amazing value if you are looking for this feature set.

Good Purchase. Good Product. by A Customer from Phoenix AZ USA
Pros: excellent noise reduction, battery charging feature is great Cons: a bit bulky, noise reduction reduced when glasses are worn Review: I am a flight instructor that flies approx 6 hours every day. The headset works very well, and is very sturdy. My only problem is that the noise reduction gets reduced when I wear my sunglasses. This occurs because the glasses break the seal of the ear cup, and allows excess noise to enter. Still a fantastic product for the price.

did not work by A Customer from utah
Pros: features and price Cons: not compatiable with all audio panels Review: After a lot of research I bought the telex 30xt. The reasons were it had all the features i wanted for the price i wanted, and the reviews were great. Was very excited to use the headset. However when I recieved the headset it would not transmit over the intercom. Talked with another pilot in the company that bought them and had the same problem. Had to send them back. Looking now to buy a TSO'd headset so that it will work with the audio panels in the company aircraft.

Comfortable, excellent choice by A Customer from Sacramento CA USA
Review: Comfortable and not bulky while using, despite a slightly larger appearence. The 3-way tesion adjusters work surprisingly well to minimize excessive clamping pressure. The ANR system is effective, although the included rechargeable battery would not hold a charge. Easy to replace however. Very impressed with the microphone. Excellent clarity and attenuation. A great headset and a good alternative to higher priced units.

Pros: Comfort, Independent volume control, Light weight,Rechargeable Battery Review: This product exceeded my expectations...The headset is easily adjustable for a comfortable fit. I like the independent volume control for each ear..The ear cushions do not interfere with my sunglasses, yet are still snug to cancel out the outside noise. The head set is light weight. And you cant beat the 5 year warranty and the headset came with the rechargeable batterys..Good investment for any pilot.

Review: They are SO much more comfortable then the Lightspeed thrity-3g's. The Lightspeeds were way to tight on my head. Telex sounds more quiet in the passive mode, along with the ANR turned on. I love how they come with rechargable energizer batteries and a car charger, along with European outlet adapters in case I travel. The head set feels more solid than the Lightspeeds AND they are made in the USA. If I had the money, however, I would definitley go with the Lightspeed ZULU's. Those are amazing.... But for this price range, the Telex 30xt's are the BEST!!! :) So is mypilotstore.com...

It's OK to not be GREEN by Woodeye of the Sky from Chelsea Michigan
Pros: Great quality and easy fit for the price.. feels great. Cons: Wish I had ordered both of these from mypilotstore.com Review: I am totally satisfied with this headset. It is a snap to adjust the headset to fit my head. I wanted a good headset without spending the huge bucks. The other headsets might be just a touch smaller but for the flying I do this headset is perfect. This is actually the second one of these that I bought. The first one was for me and this one is for my wife.
