Yaesu SBT-12 Alkaline Battery Tray for FTA-550 / FTA-750

Pros: Genuine Yaesu product and fits the radio perfectly.
Review:
This battery tray is a duplicate of the one that came with the FTA-550AA radio. I bought this as a backup to carry in my flight bag in case the batteries in the radio ran out of juice. No recharging required - just snap off the old one and snap on the new one. The individual batteries are a tight fit in the tray and are not something you would want to try to replace in flight, but swapping out the whole tray is simple.

Pros: Less expensive than rechargeable pack, AA cells widely available for the foreseeable future
Review:
I've owned a lot of hand held radios in my life and the biggest issue has always been getting replacement rechargeable battery packs. But whether you prefer a rechargeable pack or not, you should own at least one alkaline pack. You will never have difficulty finding AA alkaline batteries and a fresh charge is never further away than a new set of six AA's. I own two of these, so I can instantly swap in a fresh pack.
