Perfect & Cheaper Alternative for Franklin Covey

  • By Kiki from Colorado on Wednesday, April 01, 2020
  • Pros: sturdy, simple, size
  • Review: I had been on a search for a 7-ring binder that fit the Franklin Covey Classic inserts. Was very happy to have found this, as it also allows extra space for tabbed dividers so they don't hang over. It's simple and basic and exactly what I needed. Great for storage of backups and future inserts and for daily use.

Strong but not Rugged, Adequate but not Over the Top

  • By Ken MacKenzie from Westfield MA USA on Wednesday, March 19, 2014
  • Pros: Excellent rings with strong locking in closed position
  • Review: This is a decent binder, especially for the price. Howevr, if you are going to use it extensively and not gently, you may want to consider paying more for a leather binder. This one is simply a black plastice sheet coating, presumably over cardboard. In the past I have had this type of binder, and when used hard, the plastic will split and tear off the cardboard; eventually the rivets holding the 7 rings will pull out of the binding. But for me it's perfect since this is not holding documents that have to travel, but will sit on a shelf a good bit of the time. For light use it's excellent and the price is great. The rings are strong & lock well.

A: The rings are an inch apart.

  • Saturday, November 22, 2014

    Q: Is this a 1" or 2" binder?

A: These have 1.5" rings and are made to fit the Jeppesen Approach plates.

Q: What is the paper size that fits in the 1" binder

A: The paper size for the 7-Ring Binder is 5.5" x 8.5".  We offer the 7 Ring Notepad (Jeppesen Style) and the Jeppesen Pilot Notes that will fit in this binder.  You can also find dividers and other accessories for the 7-Ring Binders here.

  • Thursday, July 21, 2011

Q: I am looking at ordering a 7 ring binder. I don't want one that is too big or too small. When you say 1-1/2 inches, are you measuring from the inside of the steel binders, or the outside?

A: The inside diameter of the rings are 1.5".

  • Friday, December 18, 2009

Q: Do these binders also hold the loose leafs govt approach plates, please?

A: No, the 7-Ring Format is only used for the Jeppesen charts.  The FAA (NACO) loose leaf terminal procedure publications (approach plates) are in a four-ring format at the top (instead of 7-rings on the left side).  For FAA NACO charts, you will want to use one of the 4-ring NACO Binders found here.

Q: What is the size of the 7 ring Jeppesen binder? Is there a difference between the 1" and 2" (other than the ring size)? Thank you.

A: This binder has 1-1/2" steel rings.  We also offer leather and plastic one inch binder rings and two inch binder rings.

  • Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Q: Do any of the 7-ring binders have stiffeners so they don't fold up and fall between your legs while you're flying?

A: The Jeppesen Standard Leather 2 Inch Binder (https://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/2281) does have the stay-open bars.
