Quality Control isn't quite there yet.

  • By Keith from St. Paul on Wednesday, July 20, 2011
  • Pros: Otherwise a fine product
  • Review: One little annoyance with these sheet protectors was that the holes (seven in each sheet) were not punched. HELLLLLO (seriously? you're really gonna put them in a 7 ring binder?). Circles for the holes were visible, but there are no perforations.

Sounds petty I know, until you try poking holes thru the plastic (70 times). I tried a 3-hole punch, two drill bits, and a scissors. It's hard to cut the holes out without tearing the entire ring.

Guess I'd have to rate quality control pretty low.

I love these protectors

  • By Ignacio from South Bound Brook, NJ on Friday, July 17, 2009
  • Pros: The price is great for the offered protection
  • Review: I use approach plates for many airports constantly, making it necesary to have the charts readily accessible and yet protected. These protectors are so good that I recently ordered six packs of 10.That way I can put all the plates I use constantly without having to keep taking them out of the Jepp book. Great way to keep them neat, clean and ready when needed.

Best solution for Jepp plates

  • By David Cheung from Oakland, CA on Tuesday, April 07, 2009
  • Pros: Keeps plates dry when you sneeze on them.
  • Review: If you use Jepp Express plates, these are the best solution out there for frequently used plates that may get abused otherwise. Like another reviewer said, these will not let your plate fall out, and you can insert multiple plates, pull them from your airway manual and clip them in your clipboard, ready for use. I particularly like the fact that they provide a place for my enroute charts, as the binders I use (ASA style) do not have built-in pockets. I don't use them for the Terminal charts, as they don't seem to be designed for that purpose. All this and the fact that they're the least expensive of the two options for chart protectors make these the best solution currently available for Jepp Express plates.

  • Pros:
  • Review: Some folks have moaned about the hole perforations not being perforated... this is not such a big deal as it will take you just a few extra minutes to attach it to your kneeboard of choice. I prefer these protectors to the Jepp's as they allow for easy removal of the paper Plate (unlike the Jepp protectors)

Not Big Enough for JeppView Printouts

  • By Christopher Ball from Jacksonville, FL on Tuesday, January 27, 2009
  • Pros: Proabably fine for the Jeppesen subscription service.
  • Review: If you use JeppView and print your own approach plates on regular 8-1/2 x 11" paper, these will not work. They are too narrow and the paper hangs over the binder rings and won't close. Also the vinyl that this product is made of will absorb ink from your printer (even lasers) and will imprint the inside of the vinyl. Then if you have to remove the approach plate or replace it, the lines on the inside of the vinyl will make it impossible to read the new plate . . . making them useless.

Beats the Jeppesen Brand Hands Down

  • By Scotty from Seattle, WA on Friday, February 08, 2008
  • Pros: Durable, reliable, and holds your chart steady
  • Review: In an busy airline environment, with short hops, and quick chart canges, these chart protectors are by far the best. I have both these and the Jeppesen ones, and the Jepps are open on both vertical sides, and the flap at hte top is constantly opening, and charts falling out. They just don't stay put. These however are only bad for the large folding charts, as you'll have to remove the chart to work with it. Great product overall.

Beats the Jeppesen Brand Hands Down

7 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Previously Asked Questions

  • Monday, June 10, 2013

Q: What dimension/size sheet fits into the protector? I'm a glider pilot and don't know the dimensions of a Jeppesen chart.

A: These sheet protectors are designed to hold Jeppesen plates which are 6.5" by 9.5".   We do also offer blank writing pads that will fit in here: 7 Ring Notepad (Jeppesen Style).

  • Sunday, December 30, 2012

Q: Do these protectors allow the document within them to bleed and leave marks?

A: When exposed to higher temperatures for longer periods or when they get more than a couple years old, they can pick up the printed ink on the plastic.

  • Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Q: Could you please tell me the dimensions of the 7-ring sheet protectors 10-pack (item #534)? Also, do you sell the actual rings? Thanks, Michael

A: These sheet protectors are designed to hold Jeppesen plates which are 6.5" by 9.5". We don't sell the rings by themselves but we do offer a number of different binders that will hold these charts.

  • Sunday, October 24, 2010

Q: What is the maximum width of a piece of paper that these will hold?

A: These sheet protectors are designed to hold Jeppesen plates which are 6.5" by 9.5".

  • Monday, February 08, 2010

Q: Hi Just a couple more questions. Are these protector sheets made from fairly thin plastic, not vinyl! Do the rings on the chart line up with the rings on the protector sheet protecting the entire chart not leaving the ring side of the paper chart exposed?

A: These are vinyl sheet protectors. The side-punched holes on the Jeppesen charts line up with the holes on the protectors themselves.

  • Sunday, February 07, 2010

Q: Hi Are these side loading approach plate protector sheets the same size as the Jepp charts? (don't hang out of the binder like enroute chart holders). Also do they only open on the ring side and all other sides are sealed? Cheers Mark

A: Yes, they are side loading and only the vertical side near the 7 holes opens.

  • Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Q: I print off my plates on 5x8 index cards for durability. They are exactly 5x8, will they fit into these sheet protectors? If not what would the largest paper dimension that would fit properly? Thank you.

A: These are about 6.5" by 9.5", so there should be no problem in getting the index cards to fit.
