  • Pros: good comfort and sound adsorption
  • Review: I would give five stars, but some how ear seals just do not seem ground breaking enough to deserve it. There were a lot of reviews claiming they were hard to put on, but if you are not the type to try and cram a square peg into a round hole you should have no problem.
Even my 18 y/o son is comfortable with sun glasses in a J3. For those of you who do not know this is a very noisy environment, and kids today are used to very light ear phones with their ipods and no background noise.

  • Pros: They make my headset seem like new again.
  • Review: What I like is the final result. They are comfortable and make my headset seem like new. But I found them difficult to install. What finally worked was just applying contact cement to both the silicone flap and the headset surface and then just gluing them together. Viola!

easy to install, if done right

  • By JimH from Smartsville CA USA on Wednesday, February 22, 2012
  • Pros: work as advertised
  • Review: The seals package had no instructions, but are easy to install if you hook the seal over the earcup flange at the top first. Then it take two hands, one pulling the bottom of the seal to hold tension, while sliding a finger inside the opening, and guiding the seal over the cup flange on each side. Then adjust the position so that the seal conforms to the earcup shape.

They restore the comfort and noise reduction of the headset and sure beats the cost of buying a new headset.

What took me so long ?

  • By Timothy from Vadnais Heights MN USA on Monday, March 29, 2010
  • Pros: Excellent comfort and noise control.
  • Review: This has been one of my best investments. I wear glasses and the gel forms a perfect seal without any undo pressure on the glasses. There must be a better install process. They were difficult to install.

  • Review: The original pads I had on the headsets were hard as a rock. These new silicone gels make wearing my headsets a pleasure!

They Worked Before

  • By Rudy from RDU NC USA on Wednesday, August 19, 2009
  • Pros: Will buy again
  • Review: Over time (years) the second set of seals collapsed, getting harder to seal noise out. Ordered the a new set, had to trim the back side material a little bit, mount them and bingo. They work-perform as claimed. Went on a long cross country, center, approach and tower were as good as I remember. Moral of the story: Change seals as soon as you notice poor sealing.

Provides a much more comfortable headset wearing experience.

  • By Michael from Crowes Mills NS Canada on Thursday, June 04, 2009
  • Pros: Nice and comfortable.
  • Review: I bought a relatively cheap ASA headset (the headset probably cost me about $140) a few years back. The headset worked fine, but wearing them for any amount of time past a half hour or so demanded a rigorous shifting of the headset around my ear area to try and relieve the pain that the earpieces were causing on my ears. After purchasing the gel seals, I'm good for at least an hour and a half without pain (that's the longest I've been up so far since I bought them, so I suspect they'd be good for a longer period).

Provides a much more comfortable headset wearing experience.

  • By Michael from Crowes Mills NS Canada on Thursday, June 04, 2009
  • Pros: Nice and comfortable.
  • Cons: I suppose it's an added cost (but at $25, that still provides me with a fairly inexpensive, comfortable headset)

Q: How do I install these?

A: The easiest way to install ear seals would be as follows: I like to start by carefully stretching out the seal.  Run your finger along the inside while pulling with the other hand, just to stretch and loosen them a bit (but not too much).  Next, start by getting the top lip slipped on and then stretch down the center to get the bottom lip slipped into place as well.  Once the top and bottom are aligned and in place, simply wiggle the seal (while keeping pressure on the top and bottom so they do not come loose) from side to side and the seals should fit themselves on from there...they should just slide into place.

Q: What is the thickness of these earseals?

A: The FlightCom Silicone Gel Ear Seals are about 1/2" thick.
