Great system for a SxS

  • By Mark from Vernal UT USA on Tuesday, August 26, 2025
  • Pros: Great value at this price
  • Review: This is the least expensive way I could find, to put an intercom in my KRX4 side by side. Any SxS has a lot of engine noise because there's only a thin wall of plastic between you and the high rpm 1000cc engine. This cuts the noise and allows my wife and I to have a conversation instead of wearing ear plugs on a day long ride.

Best for the price Portable intercom

  • By Brian from Nampa ID USA on Monday, May 20, 2024
  • Pros: Well Built, good battery life, Simple, easy 4 place expansion, Good Sound Quality
  • Review: This is my 3rd Flightcom intercom. They just work very well and I have wore 2 of them out teaching in Champs, Cubs, T-Crafts etc.

Great Sounding, Great Squelch cutting out the back ground noise as along as the headsets have decent microphones. Cheap microphone are the biggest issue if have with intercoms because the don't filter out the background noise.

Only 4 stars? OK it could be better. The Co-pilot PTT feature is funky you can't just plug a standard portable PTT into the Co-pilot side, and using one on the leads to the aircraft only lets the pilot talk. requires a special PTT or adaptor to make the co-pilot PTT work. So doesn't work with headsets with the built in PTT switch, at least on the co-pilot side, I don't remember if I have ever tried it on the pilot side.

I said this was my 3rd the 2nd I sent back for repair when the cable finally broke internally, They instead sent me a refurbished one, I finally wore the 2nd one out, mostly the beat the crap out of it moving it from airplane to car to the next airplane, so finally bought a new one.

Non current pilot using intercom for Off Road Vehicle

  • By Mcintyre from Murray UT USA on Wednesday, April 5, 2023
  • Pros: Pretty much works as advertised at low cost.
  • Review: We use the intercom for our OHVs which are noisier than a Cessna 150. They allow an actual conversation with the passengers and as an added feature cancel the noise. We are currently working on connecting the intercom to a GMRS radio for comms between vehicles.

Reduced Noise

  • By Steve from Oro Valley AZ USA on Friday, April 29, 2022
  • Pros: Good wind noise reduction
  • Review: I fly in an open cockpit Challenger ll and have trouble hearing over the intercom due to the wind noise. This intercom greatly reduced the wind noise. Only issue is I which the volume was higher but still a big improvement.

A: Yes, you can leave the 9V battery in the FlightCom IIsx Portable Mono Intercom while it''s plugged into the cigarette plug. • Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Q: I have an older FlightCom IIgx. My plane does not have a cigarette lighter but I do have a dedicated power source for my IIgx that plugs directly into the "Power 12-32 VDC" input. Does the IIsx have the same female power receptacle or is the cigarette lighter plug hard wired into the unit. i.e. can I just not use the supplied cigarette lighter power source and plug it directly into the power source I use with my IIgx? Thanks.

A: The 12-32 VDC cigarette lighter adapter that is included with the FlightCom IIsx Portable Mono Intercom is not hard wired to the unit and is technically an optional power source.  The adapter is plugged into the female "Power 12-32 VDC" port and unless your power source accepts a cigarette lighter male plug, that adapter cannot be utilized.  When the cigarette lighter adapter is not in use, it is to be removed from the unit itself and you can then power the unit via a 9V battery.  Because it sounds like you are using a customer power source/adapter cable to power your current unit, we cannot verify that using such a cable would work...as the unit is meant to be powered via the included cable or by battery power.

  • Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Q: Will the Flightcom IIsx run off either 12V or 24V aircraft battery throught he cigarette lighter power cord? Is it also battery powered by an internal battery - and if so, what kind of batteries?

A: The included cigarette lighter adapter is 12V to 32V so it will work fine in either case.  Yes, it can also be run off a single 9V battery (not included).

  • Thursday, July 31, 2008

Q: What plug does it take to insert into the Co-pilot transmit jack, on the FlightComII?

A: The connection on this intercom is for the Dual Plugs on Fixed Wing headsets (.25" and .205" plugs).
