  • Review: Works great!  Sure beats a dirty public bathroom. If you've waited a long time and drank alot of liquids I highly recommend two. I learned this the hard way. Worth every penny. Also recommend practicing in the shower and having a large ziploc to store in after use although they gel nicely.

I keep some in the flight bag and also one in the car. You never know!

  • By A Customer from Wisconsin on Thursday, July 10, 2014
  • Review: Just used one today at 8,000 MSL. Much preferable to wasting an hour and gallons of 100LL on a diversion! They pay for themselves over and over again. In my opinion, the gelling feature makes them far more convenient and much less noticeable than a container of liquid when it comes to disposing of them.

Also used the one I keep in my car while at a high school baseball game last spring. Restrooms were not open yet, and the trees in the area didn't provide enough privacy. My trek to the car was not noteworthy, nor was my trek to the waste barrel with the gelled contents in hand. Whew! What a relief!

Awesome, perfect for on-the-go lady travels!

  • By A Customer from New York NY USA on Tuesday, July 14, 2020
  • Pros: No leakage, compact size, easy use
  • Cons: No cap for top when saving for second use
  • Review: This is an excellent product - I used it during a road trip during the COVID-19 pandemic where I wanted to avoid public restrooms and hotels, and it was perfect. It "fits" perfectly for a lady and there's zero leakage. The liquid turns to gel quickly and is odorless, so it can be kept in the car for a second and third use. You don't even need to get out of the car to use it, so it's perfect for a rest stop where you want to avoid a public restroom.

For More Than Travel

  • By Big Camper from Roanoke, VA on Wednesday, April 21, 2010
  • Pros: Works for women, too
  • Cons: Doesn't close up (but doesn't leak, either)
  • Review: This actually works for women! I use it on cold camping trips, when I don't want to get out of the sleeping bag. Just wait a few seconds for it to gel up.

Woman's point of view

  • By Pilatus gal on Thursday, January 3, 2008
  • Pros: Great fit for gals
  • Cons: Does not absorb all urine if filled to maximum fill line.
  • Review: Transcontinental flight for this big water drinker. The cup fit snugly, no leakage. However, stop urine flow well before the 28 oz maximum line as it will not absborb the last four ounces.

Every cockpit should have one

  • By A Customer from Clinton, AR on Saturday, December 6, 2008
  • Pros: turns to gel almost immediately, no leakage.
  • Cons:
  • Review: Works just as advertised... far better than any other product that is designed for this purpose. One suggestion is to keep each Travel John in a quart size zip lock bag so you have an airtight container to store a used one in until you land. The travel john does not leak, but it seems prudent to store a used one in an airtight bag until you can land.

Great benefit to travelers

  • By Phil Kelley from Asheville NC on Tuesday, January 29, 2008
  • Pros: Excellent product for travelers
  • Cons: Does not zip closed.
  • Review: I'm a pilot and I travel a lot. This product is a lifesaver for men, women and children. I buy it by the case. When you finish using it, just fold the top over and hold it for a few seconds for the gel to work. Then dispose of it in a trash can. If in a plane, just put it at your feet or in a seat pocket until you leave the plane. One thing is for sure, for the price, it cannot be beat.

Thank you

  • By Susan from Michigan on Monday, June 7, 2010
  • Review: We use Travel John when we are camping; it's really wonderful not to have to get out of the tent on cold rainy nights. I used to be able to get them at a local store, but it stopped stocking them last summer. I was so excited to find them on your sight. I can't wait to have them again. We are going camping in two weeks.

it works

  • By Mike from WA State on Monday, July 14, 2008
  • Pros: it works
  • Cons:
  • Review: I bought these recently and my family used two of them on a long trip. One usage obviated the need to land which saved far more in fuel than the cost of the bag. I will keep a few in the plane all the time now. I found, after drinking too much coffee and delaying the inevitable as long as possible, that if one has a lot of urine one bag may not quite hold it all. But it holds enough to provide the relief one needs.

When others are waiting

  • By A Customer from Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday, December 8, 2007
  • Pros: Fits well in pockets and can be deposited easily in waste cans.
  • Cons: none
  • Review: Not being able to use "squat" toilets in China, I resorted to using the few of these a friend had given me years ago for something else. It alleviated a lot of worry and provided the kind of aid for moments when a line of people were behind me and muscles were beginning to lock up.

Worked as advertised

  • By A Customer from Amarillo TX USA on Friday, September 13, 2019
  • Pros: Works
  • Cons: No sealing feature
  • Review: Used Travel Johns on a sail boat where the head was too far away to trek to in the middle of the night. No problem for me. My wife felt use was awkward in the standing position (no place to sit in tiny cabin), but felt more confident using the TJ with a "funneling" device suggested for women. Chemical reaction worked as advertised. Placed used TJ in waste basket lined with plastic bag and tied up for disposal next a.m. If TJ had a sealing feature just to feel safe it wouldn't spill, we would give it 5 stars. It took a "test" or two to know that the TJ would contain one or two "go's", but it did. Having used TJs for 4 nights, we would buy them again and recommend to others.

Great for travelers & truck drivers

  • By Lee F on Wednesday, October 15, 2008
  • Pros: Great fit
  • Cons: Takes a long time to gel - No closure
  • Review: Found this in a truck stop in PA. Took a chance and it works great. Perfect for the late night when the building in too far away. Will certainly purchase again if I can find them.

  • Review: I would have given 5 stars but I had to take one away due to the opening of the Travel John isn't very Male friendly at all due to its narrow opening that seems to be made for women than men. I still was able to use it just slightly an inconvenience is all. Even with this issue I would definitely recommend these to anyone who needs to go and can't find a place to relieve themselves. Really good construction and I used mine 4 times with a full b ladder and still no leaks or odor.

  • Review: This product works okay, although I thought before purchasing it that you could ziplock it closed, however if you really fill it up it will gel up, but you have to sit there and hold it until you de-board the A/C. Although better than nothing in a pinch.
