GREAT BAG!

  • By Lindsey from Denver CO USA on Wednesday, June 8, 2016
  • Review: I've used the TravelPro for years. I was reluctant to replace my old one, but I am glad I did. This one is well made and lighter then my old one.

Best bag period!

  • By A Customer from San Francisco CA USA on Monday, October 3, 2016
  • Pros: Solid, versatile, no nonsense
  • Cons: None
  • Review: I bought this to replace my 10+ year old Travel Pro. I find the nearly indestructible construction, coupled with the ample storage pockets to be a winning combination.

Good Bag - would buy again.

  • By Allen from West Jefferson NC USA on Friday, May 17, 2019
  • Pros: Smooth 2 wheel conveyance and durable construction
  • Cons: More "consumer" look than previous models and small side pockets
  • Review: This is my first Travelpro bag and I have to say, with my limited experience so far, it is the best bag I have owned. I have only traveled with it on one trip, but so far so good. I would agree with some other reviews that I read that Travelpro has changed the outward design of the bag to look more "consumer" and less "industrial" or "professional". And I would agree that the side pockets of the Pilot version are not very deep and are only good for small items (but don't put sunglasses in them if you do not want them to get broken -- personal experience), if those are the only two drawbacks, then I have no other complaints. The bag rolls smoothly and the extra space with the expansion is very useful (although when fully packed, I had to work slightly to get it to fit into smaller overhead bins). As I said, the bag rolls very smoothly and easily. I do not understand why carry-on bags are moving to the "four-wheeled spin in every direction out of control" type of bag. Two wheels are SO much easier to control, move over curbs, cracks, etc. Overall, I would say this bag is well worth the money.

Best roller board ever

  • By Dan from Spring Branch TX USA on Friday, June 14, 2019
  • Pros: Roller skate wheels are quiet and roll with ease. Handles are in the right spotsfor easy lifting into the overhead. Telescoping handle is sturdy. Un-obstuctive large main compartment.
  • Cons: The personal bag holder is nice but I have difficulty getting it off my personal bag. Could just be me and the type of personal bag I have.
  • Review: I have 1.7 million miles on Delta and Northwest and purchased several different roller board type bags over the years. None have had the feel of quality and sturdiness as this bag. There is a reason all the flight attendants use this bag! I have the expandable version just in case I need it, but I assume the regular version is the same quality

Great product

  • By Paul D from Houston TX USA on Tuesday, November 1, 2016
  • Pros: Well designed, accessible, durable
  • Cons: A bit heavy, but price for durability
  • Review: Second TP Carry on I have owned. First one lasted over 20 years and gave to nephew so it's still in use. Also have a Tumi, but I prefer TraveiPro.

Living up to expectations

  • By Mark on Friday, June 11, 2021
  • Pros: Smooth roller, feels bullet proof.
  • Cons: Initially thought I was going to struggle with the overhead volume. Proved to not be an issue on the flights so far.
  • Review: This thing is bullet proof. Took a little time to adjust my packing style, as my older TP had the separator between the halves, but I think I'm getting more into the new TP Pilot.
Users might find it a little heavy, especially with a two week trip, but I am sure it will make it.
It has fit all of the over heads for carry on, so I'm happy. Also, the handlers have not gotten their hands on it yet.

Master Traveler loves his new bag

  • By Joel from Reno NV USA on Wednesday, April 6, 2022
  • Pros: Ease of rolling, sturdiness.
  • Cons:
  • Review: Best Suitcase I have purchased in the past 30 years of International Travel. The one item that I would change is having additional plastic on top of the bag so my laptop bag does not dig into the fabric. I am very impressed with the quality of the construction. Wheels, retractable handle and zippers are all high quality.

Best rolling suitcase on the planet

  • By RichS from Evansville IN USA on Friday, April 8, 2022
  • Pros: Well made, light weight, rolls easy, fits overhead, is expandable
  • Cons: kind of pricey, but worth it
  • Review: When I decided to get a new carry-on I wanted something that rolled easily, would fit the overhead bins and be expandable so I could pack more stuff. A pilot friend told me to check this out. I love it. It is extremely well made, but not too heavy. I love all of the little pockets for everything from my hearing aids to my laptop. Have told several friends about it and will keep telling them. Best suitcase I've ever owned.

Exceptional Bag

  • By NetJets Pilot from S Florida on Tuesday, May 16, 2023
  • Pros: Lightweight, easy to handle yet durable
  • Cons: None
  • Review: Both durable and light. Handles everywhere you need them; top, side, and bottom. Easy to handle unlike Luggage-works. Great pocket set up - I put a soda and water bottle in side pockets. I’m on my second one, lasts about 5+ years with extreme use (NetJets Pilot; 8 day tours). Eventually the handle got sticky and I broke a wheel axle dropping it 6 feet from a Challenger Jet baggage compartment. Zippers never gave out. Love the add a bag hook. I will not use anything else!

Best rollaboard I've ever used

  • By Ronald from Atlanta GA USA on Saturday, April 23, 2022
  • Pros: Solid construction without excess weight
  • Cons: No cons that I can think of
  • Review: After being a Hartman fan for 30+ years, I was a bit hesitant to try something "new." But seeing how many flight attendants and pilots use this option made we switch... and I'm never going back. It's decently light in weight but not in construction. Reinforcements at all the critical points (especially corners and the back of the unit where it's dragged across curbs and down stairs) plus the number of pocket options to keep you straight when packing. Since it's only a two-wheeler, there is plenty of room in the interior - an aspect missing from the 4-wheeled units. It also expands with or without the longitudinal zipper for stuffing in "one last item."

Great suitcase!!!

  • By Kyle from Greensboro NC USA on Tuesday, March 19, 2019
  • Pros: Great design with well thought out pocket placement. Durable and well built.
  • Cons: None.
  • Review: This bag is super durable and has great construction. The zippered pockets are well thought out. I travel a ton for work and my luggage typically only lasted a couple years at most. Finally, I found a bag designed how I wanted that looks robust enough to be thrown around by baggage handlers. It is still early but the bag is holding up very well. Seriously this isn't some department store junk. It is the real deal.

Also, the service from mypilotstore was great. Customer service on the phone was great and friendly. Bag shipped and arrived quickly. No worries there.

Great bag, great deal and worth waiting for

  • By Mr. Bonanza from San Diego on Sunday, October 30, 2022
  • Pros: Quality throughout. Nothing can touch it for the price.
  • Cons: Can't think of anything
  • Review: I have an original Travelpro Rollaboard Suiter 22 over twenty years old and only just this year developed a tear underneath. This old bag has gone everywhere for two decades and still meets the current carry-on requirement and fits overhead straight on the way the airlines prefer bags to be oriented. I have never owned a better bag than this Travelpro.

Quality Product

  • By Randall now retired. from Hancock ME USA on Monday, May 15, 2023
  • Pros: Durability. Strong handle. Good wheels.
  • Cons: No cons.
  • Review: This is my second FlightCrew rollaboard. My first one lasted about 25 years, 15 of which when I was traveling weekly for work. I put three or four sets of wheels on it. My new FlightCrew 25" Expandable Rollaboard is very similar. It's a little bit lighter, and I'll never use the compartment for a USB charging device, but other than that, it is similar. It seems to be very sturdy, well made and quality products.

Great Aviation Luggage

Best suitcase

  • By Lori from Howell MI USA on Monday, February 24, 2025
  • Pros: Light weight and a lot of storage
  • Cons: None
  • Review: I have used Travelpro for years working as a flight attendant. Always loved them. They last forever. Now retired, I needed a new one and am so happy with my choice. This suitcase is light weight and I can put so much into it. Lots of convenient zip pockets. Absolutely recommend it.

Solid

  • By Larry from USA on Tuesday, November 8, 2016
  • Pros: Sturdy, good wheels, proper size for carry-on
  • Cons: Curved zipper pulls stick out from bag on some pockets, side and back pockets somewhat small.
  • Review: Up front, I'm a long-time Travelpro user. I have also used other brands like PNTCO's Stealth, some Tumi and Aandiamo. When I saw the FlightCrew5 'Pilot' bag it caught my interest. after watching the You Tube videos about it, I ordered one. It's a very solid bag with a strong frame and handle, good wheels and sized properly for carry on. I have an issue with the zipper pulls which I contacted Travelpro about and that is that they are sorta 'flashy' and curved on the end. They look like Travelpro's EXECUTIVE type pulls, not some that a pilot would choose. The curve is fine for gripping them but it makes them 'directional' - they lay flat on one side and stick up when lying flat on the back side. And some of the pockets zip shut with the pull curved TOWARD the bag while others zip shut and stick OUT from the bag. Don't expect to get too many items in the side and back pockets but they are good for smaller, ready at hand items. Haven't used it enough to say I would or wouldn't buy it again.

Good flight crew bag. Fits 737 flightdeck.

  • By K from Seaford VA USA on Friday, September 6, 2019
  • Pros: Fits 737 flight deck.
  • Cons:
  • Review: For those who are looking for a bag that fits the 737 flight deck, this one fits well. Once in a while the lower side pocket might hang up a little when removing the bag from the storage area, but nothing like the Luggage Works bags with side pockets.

Overall I like this bag much better than the Luggage Works stuff. Lighter and sturdier IMO. The $15-ish upcharge for this bag over the standard TravelPro flight crew bag is well worth it just for the rear edge\corner supports.

After 22 years of airline flying, my assessment is that this is a good bag for crew. There are a lot of extra pockets to quickly retrieve EFB's, paperwork and other frequently used stuff. I can't say I use every pocket, but I'm a minimalist compared to some that I fly with. I expect this bag to last about 5-7 years of normal work use, maybe longer since replacement parts are readily available.

Solid, But With Some Reservations.

  • By TC NJ Pilot from Florida on Saturday, January 27, 2024
  • Pros: Build quality, extra pouches, J-hook.
  • Cons: Bag can be tipsy when using with other bags as it is very upright, ergonomics on the inside of the bag could be better.
  • Review: It's a well built bag and rolls very smoothly. The extra pockets give opportunity to throw winter gear etc in spaces where you aren't crowding out regular items... Speaking from a flight crew viewpoint but applies elsewhere.
I am replacing a Travelpro Max Lite 5 that is approximately 2 pounds lighter (you can see it in the build) but actually has some advantages over its replacement. For some reason on the inside flap of the open bag the mesh doesn't unzip on the sides, making it difficult to use this space for work shirts as it once did on the Max Lite version. Also, this bag has a very straight stand angle, making it a little forward tipsy with a bag over the handle arms or even using the included J-hook. The Max Lite seems a little more advanced in this department as it has a significant lean which keeps everything stable with a bag on top.

Serves its purpose very well

  • By Floridajim from Tampa FL USA on Monday, April 2, 2018
  • Pros: Good size, easy to pack and stack. Wheels are great. Looks great too.
  • Cons: No suitor sleeve
  • Review: It did meet my expectations. I travel almost every week domestically and internationally. I was actually replacing an older model of the same bag. I like the upgrades from the version flight crew 4. This is commercial grade not retail stuff. The only thing I miss is the suitor sleeve but I can deal with that. No problem. Very happy with the purchase.

A Smooth Rollerboard

  • By Skyflyin from Cypress TX USA on Tuesday, March 12, 2019
  • Pros: Smooth roller, quality materials and long handle
  • Cons: Overhead storage issues and side pockets snag sometimes
  • Review: I have been using Travelpro for years because of their quality and this one lives up to that. It's roomy with plenty of space for a four day trip. My favorite thing about this one is how smooth and quiet it rolls. The tall handle is nice as well. The material and zippers (although a bit big) seem to be of good quality. The only downsides are that it didn't fit in a B737 overhead wheels first, but did fit with handle in first. Also, the pockets on the side are not useful to me and hinder getting it out of the flight deck storage, but no real issue. Overall a great suitcase and I would recommend it.

Good but could be better

  • By Laurie from Gilbert AZ USA on Monday, May 15, 2023
  • Pros: like the rollaboard style
  • Cons: Don't like the pockets
  • Review: Hubby says he doesn't like that the zipper for the top outside pocket seems to zip backwards - in other words it should be zipped closed on the side facing you when you open. He says he often accidentally empties the top pocket when flipping the lid to close the suitcase and that is annoying.

So far, So good!

  • By Dennis from Cranberry Township PA USA on Sunday, April 14, 2019
  • Pros: Rugged
  • Cons: Top heavy
  • Review: I am a Locomotive Engineer, and purchased this bag for my overnight travels as required for work. I needed a bag that is rugged, something that would withstand the difficult terrain traversing to and from my train (it's not all concrete, asphalt, and indoor walkways), fabric or outer shell capable of being brushed against steel without snagging or tearing, and some outer pockets for quick easy access for personal items.

To date this bag has met or exceeded my expectations, now the only question is longentivity.

The only issue or negative is, the bag seams top heavy. I have a sweatshirt in the top garment portion, and with the normal listing of the train, it has a tendency to tip over.

Pending on its durability over the long haul. As of now, I would purchase this item again!

Very nice, but a little heavy

  • By A Customer from Deland FL USA on Wednesday, May 29, 2019
  • Pros: Quality construction and features

Lightweight and well-designed

  • By James from Arlington VA USA on Thursday, February 1, 2024
  • Pros: Weight, design, multiposition handle

Now I’m Worried

  • By LouC547 from VIENNA, VA on Wednesday, April 3, 2019
  • Pros: Sturdy frame
  • Cons: Poor warranty and wheels
  • Review: I purchased this in Jan 2018. I’m an airline pilot so the bag does get a lot of use. I’m happy with the bag except one of the wheel bearings just failed. I brought it to a repair station where I found out the 3-yr warranty does not cover the wheels. Therefore I’m dubious that this bag will last and I’m upset that an obvious material failure isn’t covered by their warranty. Lesson learned...

Did NOT meet expectations

  • By on Monday, February 25, 2019
  • Pros: - Solidly built
  • Cons:
  • Review: The Traveler FlightCrew5 22" Expandable Pilot Rollaboard appears mostly durable. However, the first time I tried to get the bag into an MD-80 overhead the Travelpro logo popped off.
The bag seems to be built solidly to a fault. The frame is so ruggedly designed that the bag loses available room internally. What I am able to fit into a Samsonite 22" bag, which I have used for the past 3 years, doesn't all fit into this bag. This bag has zero-sum space in that in order to use one of the front pockets it takes space away from a different front pocket. I saw an earlier design that didn't seem to have this issue. When using one pocket, it expanded away from the other pocket so both could be used independently. With that problem the bag still bulged after packing for only a 4-day trip in a way that made it extremely difficult to get into an overhead bin. Additionally, the side pockets are very limited and almost useless to hold any item that I normally carry.
Based on all of these limitations this bag has become a $169 bag only large enough to carry enough for a 2-day trip, but durable enough to carry much more. I do not recommend this bag for normal use.

Falling apart in less than a year. Glad they have a 3 year warranty.

  • By AFlyer from WA USA on Wednesday, January 25, 2023
  • Pros: Roomy
  • Cons: Falling apart in under a year.
  • Review: I have had this for less than a year and the stitching is coming apart, there is fraying of the material and just recently the plastic protector on the rear under side ripped off. Side note: This is also a heavy bag compared to others which adds up over time. Glad they have a 3 year warranty.

Travel pro flight crew 5 22”

  • By Henry from Dublin OH USA on Friday, November 15, 2019
  • Review: I like to put my “dirty” clothes in a separate pocket, away from my “clean “ clothes. Recommend the larger, outer pocket be able to zip all the way down both sides as well as just the top, so that you don’t have to “cram” clothes in from top

What the squeak?!?!?!

  • By A Customer from Yonkers, NY on Monday, April 13, 2026
  • Pros: Sturdy brand
  • Cons: What's going on with the squeaking and if you try to pack it, hard to get the handle out.
  • Review: I purchased this luggage because I believe my last luggage was also this brand. Purchased in 2024. Recently I have noticed squeaking. Very loud too. I have sprayed the wheels with wd40, granted it is only one side that the noise is coming from. But I'm failing to understand why it is even doing this? It's so embarrassing. Wondering if anyone else that owns this luggage has this
