Next-Generation GPS Receiver & Datalogger for iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad

Connect up to 5 devices at a time via Bluetooth.
The real-time GPS data from a single GPS Pro can be used by up to 5 devices simultaneously – any combination of supported iPad, iPhone, Android, or Windows devices. The entire crew can share the data from a single GPS Pro sitting on the glareshield or in the side window. Or share your GPS data with passengers in the cabin so they can follow the flight on their own iPads.

Large LCD screen with backlight
The GPS Pro features a large LCD screen with backlight that provides great visibility day or night. See your location, speed, heading, altitude, and GPS lock status at a glance. No need to guess the meaning of blinking LED indicators or leave your favorite app to check the status of your GPS receiver.

Extra-long battery life and 10Hz reporting rate
The GPS Pro provides a battery life of up to 16 hours when connected to your iOS device via Bluetooth, and supports a GPS reporting rate of 10 times per second (configurable). With the accessory in standalone datalogger mode and Bluetooth turned off, you can expect a battery life of up to 32 hours.

Standalone GPS datalogger (100+ hours)
Now you can record your adventures without draining the battery on your iPhone or iPod touch. No need to keep an app running, just start and stop the GPS Pro's datalogger using a simple button press. Discover something cool? Mark your current location as a point of interest (POI) with another button press. At the end of your activity, transfer the log to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to view your trip and share it with friends and family via email, Facebook, or Twitter.

Rugged and splash-proof to IPX4 standards
Don't be afraid to take your GPS Pro along on your next adventure. Compact, rugged, and splash-proof, the GPS Pro will survive the journey and let you show your friends just how amazing that trip was.

Works with all location-based Apps found in the Apple App Store
The Bad GPS Pro meets all requirements under Apple's MFi program, and works great with any location-based App in the App Store including Jeppesen Mobile FD, ForeFlight, WingX Pro7, i1000 Flight System, iChart, Air Navigation Pro and more!

My iPad / iPhone already has a GPS - why do I need this?
The iPhone and the 3G models of the iPad include an internal GPS, however the internal GPS is made for use on the ground and is not very reliable in the air. You will find that you experience intermittent outages from the internal GPS while flying. The Bad Elf is a WAAS-enabled, super reliable and accurate, GPS receiver that you can count on both on the ground and in the air.

Your Bad Elf GPS Pro includes;

  • Bad Elf BE-GPS-2200 GPS Pro Device
  • Mini USB cable for charging (3 foot)

Excellent Product

  • By Charles from New Braunfels TX USA on Sunday, April 24, 2022
  • Pros:
  • Review: My company-issued iPad has spotty GPS performance resulting in ForeFlight position accuracy of typically 65m or worse. Bad Elf Pro instantly tightens this performance to 5m. The battery lasts for an amazingly long time, too. I am a charter pilot and recently, after using my Bad Elf Pro for a full day of flying, accidentally left it in the plane and powered on overnight. The battery was still strong the next morning and the unit continued to function fine throughout another full day of flying. I highly recommend this product.

  • Review: Bad Elf better than I expected. All my mapping apps come alive on my 6th Gen iPad. For on the water use the BAD Elf Pro is the way to go too. Shipped and delivered faster than expected. Very satisfied with the product and mypilotstore.com

I am a trail rider with a great GPS app that I could not read on my phone. I have an I Pad that is WiFi only and was trying to figure out how to get good gps. I found this VERY affordable and USER FRIENDLY device. I am now the champ of reading where I am, where I want to go, and how to get back to where I am parked.

  • Pros: fast satellite capture, good accuracy, nice iPad integration, 5 Bluetooth connections, good water resistance (no holes)
  • Cons: Manufacturer could make a more tight fitting cover for the USB charger port. For on water use I'll will add a layer of water resistant tape to ensure no salt water get on the connector.

12 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Previously Asked Questions

  • Saturday, April 15, 2023

Q: Will it provide GPS or other Wi-Fi information for a Wi-Fi only iPad? Does it provide ability to view Traffic info to iPad or iPhone

A: This will provide an accurate and reliable GPS signal to your iPad but does not provide any internet access or ADS-B information.  If you want GPS and ADS-B traffic, I would suggest the Stratus 3 which is a portable wireless receiver that provides subscription-free weather, GPS information, backup attitude, and ADS-B traffic

  • Saturday, April 16, 2022

Q: Does it work for marine navigation? Will work with navionics marine navigation?

A: Yes, this works with any location-based app in the App Store. With the self-contained power supply on both the Bad Elf GPS and the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, sailors have a powerful navigation tool that does not consume limited on-board power.

  • Sunday, June 30, 2013

Q: I own the Ipad mini with only wifi. Can I use apples 'lightning- 30-pin adaptor' for the Bad Elf GPS 1000? Is the Bad Elf Pro my only choice with Wifi?

A: The Bad Elf Pro connects and supplies GPS information via Bluetooth. Wifi will only be an issue depending on the certain apps you are using (if they require wifi or not) and does not affect the Bad Elf Pro's ability to communicate with your iPad.  We currently only offer the Bad Elf Pro.

  • Sunday, May 12, 2013

Q: Does it work with EGNOS in europe or I'll just get regular low GPS accuracy without this ground based augmentation system?

  • Monday, November 26, 2012

Q: I currently am using the Bad Elf GPS 1000. What advantage would thisBluetooth GPS have over the one that I own?

A: The Bad Elf Pro offers a few things that the original Bad Elf doesn't. First it has a display that shows position information along with speed, altitude, and heading. The Pro also has a datalogging function so it will record your track or mark waypoints without actually being to your iPad. And, lastly it will allow you to connect up to five (5) iPads / iPhones at once whereas the original would only support one connection. And, of course, it is bluetooth instead of connecting via the  Apple 30-pin connector.
