Best Bang for Your Buck

  • By Kevin from Mount Juliet TN USA on Wednesday, January 04, 2012
  • Pros:
  • Review: I wanted a good headset with no battery pack to lug around. I am a line pilot for USAirways in the small Air Buss out of Philly and this is a great headset.  After 8hrs. of flying in the heavy ATC Northeast Corridor and trans continental, caribbean areas. This headset is worth the jing.  Less fatigue, no missed calls to atc anymore!!! Eliminate possible violations and interpret foreign language slang!!

My hearing is saved

  • By Dave from Philly on Monday, August 15, 2011
  • Pros: Good noise reduction and comfortable
  • Review: I've been ruining my hearing flying airliners for 25 years but not anymore. Not quite as good as my Bose QC15s but nearly so. And they're legal (TSO'd) and comfy. Do your teengers turn down the TV when they walk into the family room? Are you too embarrassed to turn it back up? Time to buy this headset.

1 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Previously Asked Questions

Q: I am transitioning to the A300-600R and will be flying them in the United States. Do I need to purchase the "Airbus" Telex 850 or will the regular one suffice?

A: Most of the Airbus A300 have the 5 pin XLR connector instead of the dual plugs that you are used to seeing.  If you already have a headset, you can adapt it to the XLR connector using the Fixed Wing to Airbus Adapter, however if the headset you already have happens to be a Telex 850 with the dual plugs, that adapter will not work since the Telex 850 gets the power for the ANR through the microphone tip.  If you're unsure of what's in the Airbus you will be flying, it's probably best to check first since the Telex 850 is somewhat unusual.
