What's the difference between Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries?
The main difference between the two is that NiMH battery (the newer technology of the two) offers a higher energy density than NiCads. In other words, the capacity of a NiMH is approximately twice the capacity of its NiCad counterpart. What this means is for you is increased run-time from the battery with no additional bulk or weight. NiMH also offers another major advantage: NiCad batteries tend to suffer from what is called the "memory effect". NiMH batteries are less prone to develop this problem and thus require less maintenance and conditioning. NiMH batteries are also more environmentally friendly than NiCad batteries since they do not contain heavy metals (which present serious landfill problems).

Will my original wall charger work with this battery?
Yes, this battery will work just like the battery that came with your transceiver.  It's the same size and form factor and can use the same wall charger that came with your radio.

Just what I needed.

  • By Charles from Fort Payne AL USA on Wednesday, December 07, 2016
  • Pros:
  • Review: I was delighted when I received my new battery. It was easy to snap in to replace the old battery and is working great to power my old IC-A24.

  • Pros:
  • Review: Too early to give a detailed review; however, the quality is similar to the original battery, it snapped on easily, and appears to charge quickly. I was disappointed that no information was supplied with the shipment. The back of the battery says "do not overcharge," yet there are no indicators on the battery or my basic charger to tell me the charging status. So what is the normal charging time?

Good to have an extra battery and dual charger

  • By Stanley from Menlo Park CA USA on Saturday, January 17, 2015
  • Pros:
  • Review: Battery is great to have handy (for when the other one is depleted). Charger indicates full charge only with light; does not automatically shut off, which is a nuisance.

You can depend on it

  • By Michael from Encinitas CA USA on Thursday, August 21, 2014
  • Pros: Endurance , reliable
  • Review: Outstanding endurance. My only gripe is that it did not click into the radio as easily as the OEM. Battery. This battery's endurance is key when you use it a your primary radio in an old airplane without one. (Aeronca L-3 from WWII )
