What's the difference between Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries?
The main difference between the two is that NiMH battery (the newer technology
of the two) offers a higher energy density than NiCads. In other words, the
capacity of a NiMH is approximately twice the capacity of its NiCad counterpart.
What this means is for you is increased run-time from the battery with no
additional bulk or weight. NiMH also offers another major advantage: NiCad

Q: I have King KX 99 radio which I haven't used in years. The battery won't charge and even with the charger plugged into the unit the unit won't work. Is this simply a battery issue or is there something else I should know? Is there a way to get this unit to work when the battery is NOT attached? If the new battery won't work either, can I return it? thanks, M Sergeant
A: From your description, I would assume that it's the battery. Especially since you have "not used it in years". The original KX-99 came with a Ni-Cad battery which will lose its' effectiveness after time and simply not hold any charge. Without a battery, there is no way to operate the unit to see if it's something else. You can always buy this battery and if it turns out to be something else, return the battery for a full refund.

Q: I have a Bendix/King KX99 Radio (FCC ID: ASY78L KX 99; P/N 069-1026-; S/N 043966; 13.75 VDC, WT, 1.75 LBS). Its battery (Nickel-Cadmium, 10 Volts DC; Model LAA 105; Amperage not mentioned) doesn't charge anymore(out of service or something else...). What kind of new battery pack I have to buy to replace that old one?
A: This battery is a direct replacement of the NiCad battery that you have been using.

Q: On the question asked in January of 2007, you state that you are not familiar with the LL 105 battery. That is what I have and it is what came with my KX 99. It is made by King and that is stated on the bottom of the battery pack.
