As befits their reputation of many decades, David Clark makes excellent headphones. The H8530's are no exception.
Since this model uses a dynamic microphone, there were no problems connecting to my audio gear. My use is for audio/recording equipment. The condenser mics used on the aviation headsets use an interface spec slightly different from typical audio gear. That's why I opted for the model with the dynamic mic.
There is no connector(s) on the H8530. That allowed me to wire it as I wanted. I've been doing such stuff for over 50 years, so it wasn't a big concern. Actually, it was a plus.
The sound is very good. I tried it out during a session at our church and had no real concerns.
The headset offers excellent passive, ambient noise cancellation. A major reason for this are the fluid filled ear pads. The "price" you pay for this is quite a bit of weight. The weight and tight fit can get tiring during a long session.
My biggest gripe, and the reason for a four rather than five star rating, is the condition of the headset as received. One of the ear pads apparently was not installed correctly at the factory. It had come loose and was laying in the bottom of the box. It took a lot of time and frustration between my wife and me to put it back in place while not causing damage. I'm sure they have tools and/or fixtures to do this in the factory, but it's not easy to do by hand.
