Needed a new one to replace the old one

  • Review: I got this because the old (same model) PTT finger switch lay in the sun too many times and the jacket of the coil cord disintegrated. So I got another one that should be good for another 5-6 years.

  • Cons: The cord is too short by about 2 feet.
  • Review: The product is almost identical to higher priced models. However, there are two small problems. First, the cord is too short by about 1.5 to 2 feet. Second, the velcro attaching strap for the switch needs to be about 4" longer.

Product Should Include Ferrites

  • Cons: Doesn't work as-is with at least two common headset brands
  • Review: RF feedback generated from my ICOM A24 radio makes the PPT switch unusable with my David Clark and LightSpeed Zulu headsets. Besides the loud squeal the mic's signal never makes it to the radio. This is a known problem for which ICOM has issued a notice. Adding two ferrite beads to the headset cord fixes the problem for the David Clarks. The sole reason for my purchase was to establish a backup cockpit radio in the event of panel radio failures. Since I've yet to make it work with the Zulu, the switch has little value for this purpose.

Icom A24 radio and PTT switch

  • Cons: not usable in flight, and why else would you buy one?
  • Review: Got new A24, comes with plugs/cord for headset. Trying both David Clark and Lightspeed Zulu, squeal during transmit makes it unusable. I just placed two choke cores (ferrite beads) to various places on the cords, no change. Unusable as an inflight back up radio.
