Excellent quality
by Susanne from Fort Lauderdale FL USA

Review: Great quality and pricing, waiting to see if he needs more that aren't embroidered with company logo. If not, will buy more of these.

Super-stiff Collar
by Scott from Mansfield TX USA

Cons: Collar too stiff
Review: Overall the quality of the shirt was fine, but after multiple washings the collar is still extremely stiff and can lead to rashes on the neck.

Good shirt with 2 slight problems
by Jon from Jupiter FL USA

Pros: nice collar, cool, irons well
Cons: too much material at the waist, eplets stand up too high
Review: I particularly like this shirt because it irons well has a substantial collar and is cool due to the higher level of cotton. The only problems I have with it is that the eplets are a bit longer than the distance to the button which makes them stand up a bit and the shirt needs a little bit of a taper to the waist.

Just what I wanted
by Airraid from Miami FL USA

Pros: Nice Fabric, sharp looking collar.
Cons: Cuffs on the sleeves?
Review: Overall very pleased. In the left pocket I carry two pens and clip-on sunglasses. I found the pen holder dividing stitches in the wrong place (for me), so I undid the stitches to make it one large pocket. you can't tell. Now the shirt is perfect for me.

Excellent Shirt
by Allen from Seattle WA USA

Pros: The pockets alllow quick acess. Why don't other shirtmakers emulate this?
Cons: The pencil pocket is a waste and unnecessary. Besides, it is too small and on the wrong side of the pocket.
Review: This is an excellet shirt, and I will buy it again.

I would try this product again.
by Stanley from South Duxbury VT USA

Pros: wrinkle free
Cons: Collar became deformed after a few washings
Review: Holds its form very well even when packed for a few days in a carry on case.

I would buy this product again
by Robert from Malvern PA USA

Pros: Looks professional, has the best pocket features, best quality of materials
Cons: needs a slight upgrade in fabric
Review: This shirt is the best over all pilot shirt out there.

Love wrinkle free
by Marc from Charlotte NC USA

Pros: No ironing.
Cons: Fits too big.
Review: The wrinkle free material is wonderful and makes life on the road much easier. However, it fits like a tent. The draw back of Van Heusen has always been either fat or skinny with no in between. Makes this shirt for a normal sized man and they have my business for the rest of my career.

great shirt and great price
by david from Ocean Isle Beach NC USA

Review: This shirt is used as our Marine Corps League Detachment 1005 in Shallotte NC. Great but I ordered two and did not try them on before sewing on uniform patches and they are too small. I will return one for exchange one size larger (16). Apparentlly, I have grown since enlisting in the USMC 40 years ago.

Best aviation/work shirt that I have purchased
by ROBERT from CHINA GROVE NC USA

Review: Heavy material.. Feels and fits like a expensive shirt... Is stain resistant Love these shirts

I might buy again
by Rob from New Smyrna Beach FL USA

Pros: No pocket flaps
Cons: too heavy and hot, and not fitted
Review: The shirt is not fitted good like the Aviator and the color is really off white compared to the Aviator... I would buy Aviators if the pockets did not have those Damn flaps. That's only reason to buy the Commander, no flaps to contend with.

good old commander
by Marko from Rutherford NJ USA

Review: Commander is great shirt I wear it with great pleasure. However it seems to me that tailoring used to be a bit tighter. For example I ordered now just a half number bigger shirt and collar is perfect fit but shirt is almost two numbers as wide....This should be considered when purchasing.

Excellent quality - stainproofing is a savior!
by Mark from Md USA

Pros: Cotton/Poly blend percentages. Stainproofing.
Cons: Righthand pocket no longer has a pen pocket sewn in. As a lefty I miss my righthand pen pocket - my first set of COmmander shirts had it, but two subsequent sets have not had it.
Review: These are very high quality shirts. I have used the Aviator line of shirts for years as well as several other company shirts and the Commander is the best I've seen yet. It has enough cotton to iron & starch very well but still be pretty wrinkle resistant. In addition the fabric is treated with a stain repellent that has saved me numerous times. Once I spilled Crystal Lite on my shirt and it just beaded up. My hand was stained but the shirt was not. For those of us that have to each at the controls, spills/splashes are inevitable. Rain beads up on it too.

Excellent product with a few caveats.
by Robert from Oklahoma City OK USA

Pros: Great fit, long-lasting, and I really like the open-top pocket style.
Cons: Some bubbling on the collar after just a few washings, the trim on the short sleeves needs to be tacked down more securely - I keep catching it on objects.
Review: Van Huesen Commander shirts are great - I like them with a few reservations.

It is an excellent altrnative wearing even for not an navy officer
by Dr. Sherman Yen from Owings Mills MD USA

Pros: comfortable, and easy to wear
Cons: none
Review: As a world traveler who travel different countries for given lectures and conference, I truly enjoy to wear the shirts even as a civilian. They are comfortable and appropriate for all occasions of course with the exception of formal dinner night. I recommend highly for the shirts. Dr.Sherman Yen

Good Shirts
by RICHARD from MIAMI FL USA

Pros: Phony flaps instead of real ones make pockets more usable for storage
Review: These are very good shirts but not 100% cotton. Since I fly in Florida I would love to finds shirts like this but 100% cotton and wrinkle free. This would make summer flying in non-air conditioned cockpits a bit more bearable.

Beware of new cut
by Ian the 1900 pilot from Peoria AZ USA

Pros: Stain and wrinkle resistant
Cons: New cut is not as fitted
Review: I was disappointed that the cut of this shirt has been changed since the last time I bought them. The fit is baggier and the sleeves longer. These are not good things if you are a skinny guy like me.

by AL from Payson AZ USA
Review: I'd rate the shirts a 4 or 5, after my semstress made some alterations they fit well. Over all good quality.  AL

great shirt, inconsistent color
by Nooorm from SPI

Pros: pocket style, wrinkle free
Cons: inconsistent color
Review: Good quality, rarely needs ironing. a few collar bubble-ups require extra ironing. I love the pocket design. sometimes the color is beige; sometimes it's bright white.

The Comander shirt
by Ronald from Mount Joy PA USA

Pros: Thickness of the material.
Cons: Sleeves too short and don't like the cuff
Review: The sleeves are too short (makes the shirt look too small for me) and I don't particularly like the cuff on the sleeve. The cuff keeps rolling up and I'm constantly straightening them out. I guess I didn't realize they were cuffed before I bought them.

It exceeded my expectations
by A Customer from Miami FL USA

Pros: roomy and quite cool because of the 60% cotton
Review: Had I known it was so roomy (which I like) I would have gotten a half size smaller, all in all I love these shirts I have since bought four more of them.

by Randel from Clearfield UT USA
Review: I would buy this product again.

My favorite of all shirt designs
by Daniel from SAINT AUGUSTINE FL USA

Pros: The open pockets (fake flaps) make this easy to use
Cons: I have had a few collars "bubble up" and need extra ironing
Review: The quality of construction, wrinkle resistance, and pocket features make this shirt my favorite. I can usually wash and wear without ironing, especially if shirts are removed from dryer before it shut off.

Shirt Irregular
by Joseph from Indianapolis IN USA

Pros: Delivery was promt
Cons: Poor quality on one shirt.
Review: 4 out of the 5 shirts were good. On one of the shirts the left arm is smaller than any of the others. It is tight on my arm and can't wear it. I need to return it, but have been too busy to get around to it.

Premier shirt for the professional pilot
by Al from Larkspur CO USA

Pros: Top quality construction with a wrinkle resistant combination of Cotton and Polyester
Cons: Straight Cut only - Tapered shirt not an available option
Review: This is a great shirt that I have used for many years. The cotton polyester blend is comfortable and resists wrinkling. The open-top pocket design is perfect for quick access to your sunglasses or your flight schedule. The construction is top notch.

Why not all-cotton
by A Customer from Baltimore, MD

Pros: Look fine.
Cons: Polyester!
Review: Good styling, polyester content is too high, either all-cotton or 80/20 would be a big improvement. Polyester makes shirts too warm in summer.

Very good shirt
by PAT from SYDNEY NSW Australia

Review: Excellent product, good material, fits good and looks good. Definitely the right shirt to buy.

Quality Shirt
by Philip from Morristown NJ USA

Pros: Quality, buttons, design, long tails.
Cons: Color!
Review: Loved the shirt and loved the MyPilotStore service. The only issue I have with this shirt is the inconsistant color! Some shirts are cream/beige color and some are a nice white. Kinda wierd but you really can't tell the difference unless they are next to each other.

Only shirt I ever buy.
by A Customer from Richmond, VA

Review: This shirt is durable, easy to clean, and easy to iron. It's the only shirt I ever buy for work.

This shirt is great, yes. But, you can get it anywhere. What you can't get everywhere is the speedy service mypilotstore.com gives you. Also, I've found that they carry this item for the cheapest price online.

I have recomended this product to coworkers.
by Ron from AK USA

Review: The shirts are more than what I had expected. I really like the cheater front pockets with the opening at the top without having to unbutton the shirt pocket to get into the pocket. It sure makes it easy to remove and replace my pocket calculator with out having to unutton my shirt pocket and yet with the button on the outside still looks professional.

I would by this product again
by A Customer from Northampton, Massachusetts

Pros: very comfirtable, easy to wash and iron
Cons: epaulets bulged up, either they are to long or the button is in the wrong place
Review: This is a very comfortable shirt with excellent pockets, great for pilots who where glasses like myself.

Graet Shirt
by A Customer from USA

Review: I work for AMR corp. and the shirts they want us to buy are so cheap its not funny. The Van Heusen Shirts are twice as much but they last and are great quality. I have bought many and will contiue to buy them.

Improved? Product
by Sleeper from Plymouth, MA

Pros: Good quality
Cons: Stain Treatment
Review: I recently purchased two Commander pilot shirts. I've had a positive experience with Van Heusen pilot shirts in the past, so I had no reason to be concerned with this purchase. However, as I unwrapped them, I noticed they did not appear as white as older Van Heusens in my closet. Then, when I washed them, I noticed the water beading up on the shirt and when I ironed them the spray starch did the same.

I contacted Van Heusen and they confirmed that the shirts are now treated with a stain repellant and offered to replace them. Since all the shirts have the same treatment, replacement would not solve the problem. I'm just gong to wash the heck out of them and hope the treatment fades with time and I can get them white.

Repeat User
by A Customer from Avondale AZ

Pros: Comfort & Durable
Cons: Cut on the large side for slim user
Review: Solid shirt, comfortable.

Great Shirts
by A Customer from CVG

Review: I would buy these shirts again. They are very comfortable after a couple of washes. At first, they do rub your neck raw a little, but otherwise, they are great shirts. They hold starch well and stay wrinkle free longer throughout the day than other aviator shirts.

I would buy this product again and again
by fatboymikie from Shreveport, LA

Pros: I had to have the bar flaps on the shoulders and a taylor cut.
Cons: Says it is made with wrinkle guard but I have to iron it anyway
Review: Very good quality and exactly what I was looking for. My Pilot Store had a good price to go with this great product. I would and probably will buy another. Thank you

Exactly what I was looking for!
by Wayne from Washington, DC

Pros: Price. Convenience. Delivered quickly.
Cons: None
Review: Great shirt. Fit perfectly. Takes starch well. It is exactly what I was looking for when I searched the internet. I had looked through many sites and stores for an epaulette shirt. This was also priced well below other similar shirts that did not meet 100% of my expectations.

Good Quality
by Tim from Atlanta, GA

Review: I used to buying the polyester/cotton mixed shirt, and the problem for the tetron fabric turns their color yellow after several wash. However, I love this van heusen shirt I bought that stays white. The fabric is much better, it is uncomparison for the dollar to quality. Good Uniform shirt! Tim.

by David from MD
Review: Comfortable, breaths easy and easy to iron.

Best out there
by A Customer from Phoenix, AZ

Wednesday, February 07, 2007
by Jim from Augusta Maine
Pros: Commander shirt maintains good appearance after many cleanings
Review: Commander style shirts are far superior in look and durability over the similar Aviator style, at a small increase in price.
