This Electret Microphone is a noise canceling type designed to operate in place of carbon and amplified dynamic microphones. It will not operate in circuits that do not supply a DC bias voltage. Most modern aviation communications equipment do supply this required voltage. If unsure, consult with your radio technical manual or with your local avionics shop. It is intended for use with wire booms.

Very happy with this product. Direct fit on my old 1980s David Clark h10-40 headset. Highly recommend. It performs better than modern budget headsets that I've used.
Installation is only removing and installing screws. You will need a small flathead for the mounting screw and a tiny (think sunglasses) flathead to disconnect the old one. This new one reconnects with an included allen key

I needed a replacement mic element when converting a military grade DC headset to GA civilian use. Q: Does this microphone have flat-tip screws or allen screws to secure the connection?
A: The screws will use a flat head screwdriver. There is an additional screw that will need a Philips screwdriver. No allen wrench is needed.

Q: Will this mic work on the David Clark H-10-30?
A: Yes, the M-7/DC microphone can be used on the David Clark H10-30 Headset. However, you will need to get the David Clark M-7/DC Amplified Electret Mic Retrofit Kit. The retrofit kit will be required because it comes with the mic cord you will need. The M-1/DC on the H10-30 that you're removing is hard wired and therefore you will need the new cord included in the kit when attaching the M-7/DC.

Q: I would like a David clark microphone (electret and amplified) to work on H10-76, that can be used on Cessna 172. I have the "Y" cord, but not the microphone. I already have the M-87 dynamic. will the M-7A work better?
A: In order to use the H10-76 in a civilian aircraft, you would need the 1142-22 microphone.
