Great book, good investment

  • By Aaron the UAV Captain from Brooklyn NY USA on Wednesday, February 12, 2014
  • Pros: Very good overview of the knowledge base for the Basic and Advanced Ground Instructor Exams.
  • Cons: Was surprised to see that it didn't cover questions for IGI, rotorcraft, lighter-than-air craft, or gliders. Not such a big deal because info for those questions can be found for free elsewhere.
  • Review: Very good book, helps me prepare for my ground instructor writtens. My weak spots have always been WX and Regs, and the explanations have thoroughly cleared up my confusion. With this book and intensive studying sessions (5+ hours a day), you can be ready to take the BGI and AGI written exams in less than two months.

  • Review: I had to "retake" the CFI written after 35 years to qualify as a designated pilot examiner. It was like telling a lawyer he has to retake the bar exam!

Gleim's guide was superb. Every important point is presented, you take a sample quiz and review, if necessary, and then tackle the "real" questions. The accompanying explanation doesn't simply give the correct answer, it explains why the wrong answers are wrong!

    Use it...it's great!

Subject matter was presented well and right to the point.

  • By Keith from Broken Arrow OK USA on Wednesday, October 24, 2012
  • Review: This is an excellent review course for the FAA exam. Many, many example questions are presented. The study material is concise and still covers what is needed to answer those questions.

Excellent Aid for Test Prep

  • By Matt from Charlotte, NC on Thursday, March 15, 2012
  • Review: This book lays out what you need to know for the Flight Instructor written and the Ground Instructor written. If you take the time to work through this book then you will be prepared for and do well on the written. What I like best about this book is that it will help you identify what you do not know and what you need to focus on.

Dont waste your money!

  • By Harvey from Vero Beach FL USA on Monday, May 1, 2017
  • Pros: Cheap
  • Cons: Inacurate, missing important information, descriptions wrong, cheap paper.
  • Review: This book is full of errors and incorrect formulas. It leaves out several key topics and discussions would show up on the exam but are not mentioned anywhere in the book. You'd be much better off buying the ASA version and let climb figure out what they did wrong and make the corrections hopefully in the next issue. As an example nowhere in this text does it discuss class Bravo airspace I assume that's because Gleim figures class B airspace is an important
