Cessna 172 Too!!

  • Review: I used this mount on my Cessna 172N, it mounts to the back of the yoke, not the shaft. Much cleaner installation that using the shaft mount. The tablet mount rests against the front of the yoke for a very stable install. Great!

Ram mounting clamp

  • Pros: clamp was correct size for the cross member
  • Cons: Problem with interference from other items welded to the cross member
  • Review: The RAM mount clamp was the only item missing in order to use the I-Pad mounting tray with ball clamp in my possession. It was attached to the cross member behind the front seat in a Stearman aircraft. The ball clamp and mounting tray attached to the mount clamp and allowed the I-Pad to swivel into view under the back instrument panel. This, in turn, was wired to ship's power. The mounting tray with i-pad can be pulled into view while in flight and tucked away for takeoff and landing.

Big round mount

  • Pros: Would likely work on a yoke that needed it.
  • Cons: The metal ring had to be stuffed into some piece of rubber and this job absolutely impossible
  • Review: I wasn't sure just how big the yoke would be on my Sierra before I went to pick it up so I had several mounts ready including this one. I thought it really strange that the internet, twitterverse and pilot supply houses just didn't know how big the yoke was. When I finally got to the airplane I found, much to my delight, that the RAM Small Claw worked just fine so I used it to mount my iPad Mini 4. Fifteen hours, four sorties over two days and I was home. There you go.

    Except - The post on the ball mount is too short. I had to turn the mount for my iPad Mini upside down to get it to fit properly on the yoke and not block the panel instruments.
