Know your fuel level

  • By Thomas from Harvard IL USA on Tuesday, January 17, 2012
  • Pros: Simple to use and accurate
  • Cons: Could have some sort of lanyard to prevent it from being dropped into the tank
  • Review: The fuel stick is the only way to be sure of the quantity of fuel left in your tanks unless they are full to the top.

I like this product

  • By Craig from Redding CA USA on Tuesday, February 7, 2012
  • Pros: Very easy to use
  • Cons: Don't throw away or tear up packaging! You need it to calibrate and referance
  • Review: Easy to use. Takes a little time and effort to calibrate but it is worth it. Helps you know exactly what your gph is. Just make sure you park on level surface to calibrate and when you check your fuel consumption at end of trip

Works well with limitations

  • By Donald from Plymouth NH USA on Wednesday, July 18, 2012
  • Pros: One stick for several tanks
  • Cons: Can not measure when low fuel on some types of tanks
  • Review: Many plane tanks are not perfectly suitable for stick testing as they indicate 0 fuel while remaining fuel sits at the bottom of the wing. Other tanks have curved bottoms making consistent tests difficult. Be aware of sensitivity to unlevel testing areas. The variation on unlevel ground may be great. They are helpful but not perfect. It worked well on our M20J Mooney. The Seneca III was fine for half tanks to full when level. The Cessna 414 tip tanks are shaped funny and it is less useful but still helpful those tanks. The wing tanks can only measure full to 2/3 tank. The locker tanks are accurate to the bottom.
