  • Pros: Solid feeling unit. Easily Detachable antenna.
  • Cons: Need to be careful about selecting power options—website issue.
  • Review: I like the product, but was somewhat disappointed by the lack of a power adapter in this kit. It was not clear to me during my selection that I would only have a battery pack that I filled with alkaline batteries. Still, I am not trying to use the unit for flight, and battery life is long, so I am still satisfied overall.

Worke really well

  • Pros: Powerfull radio that is just plug and play.
  • Cons: Not very intuitive to learn your way around. Can really use up 6 AA batteries.
  • Review: I would give this radio a four star review. It works really well. I only have a couple of complaints though. I only got one hour of service on a set of batteries. I used up all of my battery juice in a flight that was an hour long. I really did use it allot though. I will give it that. If you simply plug it into a cigarette lighter,(sold separately), it works without using any batteries at all. It is not very intuitive to learn your way around in the radio to start with. But their customer service was really great. It takes a bit to learn all of the settings. It has so many spots in it's memory it's amazing.

Great performing radio, CUMBERSOME menu/user interface

  • Pros: Powerful, clear, loud, great readout.
  • Cons: Takes a PHd to utilize any function beyond the power button.
  • Review: Performance of this radio is superb. To operate it, change channels, program it, very VERY cumbersome and time consuming, its not “intuitive”. If requiring a radio in the cockpit during an emergency let alone if just a radio went out, forget it. For bee-bopping around air shows to listen to traffic not such an issue to take 5-10 minutes to figure out how to change channels, but in the cockpit, nope.
