I did buy this product again

Pros: A must for the student pilot
Cons: None
Review:
I purchased Stick and Rudder in the late 1950's when I started flying lessons. I loaned the book to a friend but was never returned to me. The book was so great I always thought of it and about a month ago May 2012 I ordered another from mypilotstore.com. Back in the 1950's I took lessons in a J-3 Piper Cub (was real flying). The book is great, the slow and fast - up and down portion was great.

A must read for every Pilot
By Johnny
from Ft. Pierce FL USA
on Monday, March 29, 2010
Pros: Great book. Will further expand your knowledge of an airplane
Cons: He uses the term ship instead of airplane or aircraft.
Review:
Stick and Rudder takes the complicated subject on how an airplane flys, into plain english. Topics like stalls, climbs, steep turns, and landings are all explained so you know what's going on. A few pages of reading and you will get that "oh so that's what happening..." Moment!

Ageless & Relevant
By Mark
from Nezperce ID USA

Pros: Covers the fundamentals of flight in detail without being overwhelming.
Cons: Not recommended enough!
Review:
Great text! While the author's terms seem "old" to the modern reader, they're not... his intention was to change a few labels and remove our misconceptions. A perceptive reader will note how the author disassociates common misunderstandings such as using the term "elevator" when in fact we do not "elevate" but more correctly, change our angle of attack... which can mean descending as well as "elevating". A new student might need a bit of coaching to understand some of the author's finer points, but any experienced pilot will smile as they read along through the book. Although written decades ago, the author makes points that stand the test of time. I'm grateful it was recommended to me as I worked through various ratings.

The title and subtitle say it all

Review:
Though I have not completed my read, it is one, if not THE best technical books on the art and mechanics of flying I have read. Even the most complex aspects of flight are explained in easily understood terms. I would recommend it to all students of aviation.

The very basics of flying.
By V. Leroy Chausse
from Minot, ND
on Tuesday, March 26, 2024
Pros: An excellent treatise on the basics of flight.
Cons: None
Review:
A. Friend of mine is a sim instructor for Southwest. One day we were discussing the basics of flying and aircraft control came up. I mentioned that he should require all his students to read Stick and Rudder. His comment went something like this: “They probably wouldn’t know the difference!” I thought that was interesting since all His students were flying the BIG STUFF. But it points out the apparent lack of proper training at the very beginning of one’s piloting career. I learned to fly while in college in the late fifties. The airplane was an inter-connected Ercoupe - no rudders! (The challenge of landing in a crosswind!). Over the years I earned all my ratings, and my students were required to read and absorb Stick and Rudder. It is so well written that I believe it helped in their understanding of how flight is controlled and they became better pilots because of that. My hat is off to the author even though deceased.
