by Robert from Springfield OR USA
Review: Great detail I could't get from other sources. Eg: who has courtesy cars available and numbers to call to reserve them.

This is the classic Guide by Joe B. from N. Calif.
Pros: Small Cons: The fold out maps can get messy in an open cockpit airplane. Review: Have been using this guide for over 25 years. It is the right size for use in the cockpit. I Velcro mine to the floor board under the rear seat in my J-3. Very useful, every pilot should own this guide.

Satisfied user for 18 years by Richard from Tucson AZ USA
Pros: Small book, lots of information Cons: Small diagrams, crowded displays Review: With diagrams of all the airports in the region, locations and phone numbers of each FBO, restaurant and rental car business, communication frequencies and lodging information, this guide excels. The dividers between the individual states contain loads of other safety of flight information as well as concise quotes from the FARs.

I like paper...! by Dorothy from Yermo CA USA
Review: I can take just one page or the whole book, which is small enough to fit in flight bag or cockpit pockets. It is current and so am I. It's my choice for airport info.

Good reference source but not a legal required document by David from Rapid City SD USA
Pros: Pages come out without being torn, good general information Cons: Out of date when published, no current updates after 2 months. Review: Would buy it again in two years as a convenient source of general airport information and diagrams. Edition was out of date when received, and have not received any updates since purchase. Airport/Facility Directory is the legal airport reference. Good general information and refresher type data include.

Lots of good Information by Ray from Huntington Beach CA USA
Pros: Lots of good information. Cons: Too small to read easily. Gets lost in the cockpit. Review: Great information in a small package. Maybe too small of a package. A little larger would be easier to read and keep up with. Updates are a lot of trouble to install because they are spread out through the entire book. Would be easier if you just replaced the entire book, and you can have that for more money. The book has so many pages that it is hard to open to put in the updates without loosing pages. How about including more than 1 bookmark in the price. You can buy more but only 1 included. Over the years it seems that almost everything offers less and costs more. I know that the publisher needs to make money and we are all rich pilots, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

Buy the orange book by CD from Tucson, AZ
Pros: Small size Cons: Information that is used frequently is not easily found or put in bold print Review: This product did not meet my expectations, my father in-law has the Pilots Guide book for the Southwest (Orange covered book) so I chose this book to have something different, assuming it held the same info but in smaller format. The format is smaller but it does not hold nearly the same info as the Orange book. The orange book not only has a diagram of the runways but it has an aerial picture of most of the airports in the book, it also make it very easy to find the frequences and patern altitudes with their bold print in the Orange book. The orange book also gives you a list of service and contact numbers that the Flight Guide Vol.1 does not. If I had to do it all over again I would purchase the Orange book, it may be a little bigger than the Flight Guide, but as a beginning pilot all the extras in the Orange book is worth the extra size. PS, the directory to find the airports in the Orange book was easier to find for me than the Flight Guide Vol.1
