Icom HM-173 Speaker Mic
The HM-173 is the replacement of the ICOM HM-112 and HM-119 speaker microphones.
The Icom HM-173 Speaker Mic will work with the ICOM IC-A22, IC-A3, IC-A4, IC-A5, IC-A23,
IC-A14, IC-A14S, IC-A24, and IC-A6.
For use on IC-A5 and IC-A23 you also need the
Speaker Mic Adapter
Plug (OPC-782).

Q: Is there a belt clip on the back? Does it have a jack for an in-the-ear microphone for when the Mic is clipped to your collar, allowing you to hear in the ear, and respond using the Mic?
A:
Yes, there is a spring loaded clip on the backside of this speaker mic. It does not have a jack for an in-the-ear microphone.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2009 a customer asked:
Q: In the picture of the HM-173 it shows 2prongs on the plug in . My older IC-A5 has a single plug in for the mic will it work or do I need a different mike /speaker
A:
You will need to also use an OPC-782 adapter to plug into the receptacle in the top of the radio. This adapts the single plug into a 2.5mm and 3.5mm receptacle so that you can use the HM-173 speaker microphone. This is the only speaker microphone that has the proper impedance match for your radio. Although there are other microphones with the same pin configuration, only the HM-119 or HM-173 has the proper impedance match.
