Excellent Product
by Robert from Singapore

Pros: Noise Canceling and comfort
Cons: If it would pack a little flatter it would be perfect.
Review: Excellent headset. Works better than I expected and battery life is....well, I'm still on the first set of batteries after several long trips!

Pricey but worth it.
by Clyde from Tamuning, Guam

Pros: Works as expected-very effective.
Cons: Price, cord.
Review: This is the second Sennheiser ANR headset I have owned. The first was a HMEC-45-KA and that lasted for 12 years or so. The "46" is as advertised and I used it in a VERY noisy environment where ANR is a must. I would not hesitate to reccomend this headset to anyone who would need a new headset. Only better headset IMHO would be the full earcup type that Sennheiser does have. I am saving up for that one for my AT-6. Only complaint I have is the cord-very stiff and a bit problematic routing from jacks. Other than that it is just perfect.

All expectations covered. I would buy this again.

Review: It is a fantastic change from traditional headset to this NEW head set.   It takes care of my audition very well.  Thanks.

Excellent headset
by Paul Andrews from DENVER CO USA

Pros: Excellent audio, compact.
Cons: Could suppress a little more noise. Foam ear covers could be more comfortable.
Review: This is a great headset for a jet cockpit. Complaints heard before buying were about the poor noise cancellation and the foam ear covers. The unit suppresses about half the noise level and approximates wearing ear plugs or slightly better. The foam earpiece covers could be better, but I don't find them uncomfortable. Audio reception and transmission is excellent. You'll miss fewer calls. The ability to swing an earpiece backward or forward without moving the headband is very handy - say for a flight attendant standing behind you and talking in a low tone. Or for hearing someone on your jumpseat a little better. The batteries last about a month for the average airline pilot. The reduction in fatigue is well worth the expense. Recommended.

Why did I wait so long?
by A Customer from HI USA

Pros: Well-designed, very functional.
Cons: Foam earpads
Review: Outstanding...Immediately noticed the difference. My ears stopped ringing after flying.

Ask Your Own Question
On Tuesday, May 03, 2011 a customer asked:
Q:
continuing on with the question asked in 2008, would we also need to purchase an adapter like http://www.mypilotstore.com/MyPilotStore/sep/3333 for this headset to work in the a330 cockpit?
A: Yes, if you are going to be using this in multiple aircraft, including the Airbus, you would need the Fixed Wing to Airbus Adapter.  OR, if you are going to be using it exclusively in the Airbus you might consider just getting the Sennheiser HMEC-46-CP which has a the plug for the Airbus (uses a 5-pin XLR for microphone, headphone, and power connections - aircraft must be wired, 28 volt aircraft only).

On Monday, December 28, 2009 a customer asked:
Q:
Does anyone know where to buy replacement earpads?
A: Yes, you can find replacement ear pads here.

On Friday, May 29, 2009 a customer asked:
Q:
I was reading that there is an option to have this headsets power by the airplane directly : is it true ? How amny days for delivery in Seattle ? Thanks
A: Yes, the HMEC-46-KP is powered by a specifically wired 28 volt panel and is powered by the microphone connector tip. The HMEC-46-CP is powered by a specifically wired 28 volt panel and is powered by an XLR-5 connection. It would be approximately 3 business days in transit to you to Seattle with standard shipping.

On Sunday, February 10, 2008 a customer asked:
Q:
What are the connections for this headset? Is the ANR function powered by the aircraft or batteries? Sorry if this is basic, but I didn't see the information in the description.
A: The ANR is powered by AA batteries.  It uses the two standard general aviation jacks (PJ-055 and PJ-068).
