Review: I got the spare battery before I was informed by GARMIN that there is a software glitch in my new 496 that will not allow the battery to fully charge until the battery is flat. So far there has been no recharging problems with either battery.

Review: I had informed this shop about this defective battery so I ordered the new one and it works much better. This shop made no actions for reimbursement for the defective battery.

Review: What can you say? I put the new battery in, charged it and it works great. I just think it's pretty abrupt the way they go bad to begin with, but that's not important to me.

Unreliable battery

Review: I never even use the GPS on the battery. I do enjoy having the battery in case of a power failure in my airplane. I noticed that with less than 50 hours of flight time on my garmin 496 that when I shut the engine off the battery back up didn't ask me to hit a button to continue navigation. Too bad.. the gps is a great tool, but the battery obviosly needs to be considered

Short battery life

Cons: Dropped to less than 4 hour life in two weeks
Review: These batteries have a very short life, less than two months with daily use.
