SafetyCell Battery Powered Headset to Cell Phone Adapter - Helicopter
- 5 customer reviews.

Now you can connect your general aviation headset to your cellular phone with
SafetyCell! SafetyCell is a device that enables pilots to connect a
cellular telephone to any standard aircraft headset. SafetyCell allows the pilot
to hear cell phone calls and radio transmissions at the same time. Incoming and
outgoing phone calls and radio transmissions can be heard and answered through
the headset speakers and microphone. When a phone call comes in, the pilot can
hear it ringing through the headset.
NEW - Battery Powered Helicopter SafetyCell! This Battery Powered
SafetyCell does it all! The unit is powered by a 9V battery which will
last for hundreds of hours. It is housed in a slim custom case that will slip
right into the pilot pocket in your airplane. The battery powered SafetyCell
will work with any headset, in or out of the helicopter. If you want to use your SafetyCell on your boat, lawn mower, truck or airplane, this is the unit for
you. This unit is amplified and is about twice as loud as the amplified
SafetyCell.
It's made of durable plastic and is small enough to fit in the corner of your
flight bag. It is compatible with any cellular telephone that accepts a hands
free system (i.e. has a 2.5mm jack on the phone).
Adapters are available
for other cell phones too!
- Hear radio and phone transmissions simultaneously
- Dial phone normally, talk, and listen through headset
- Incoming calls ring through headset
- Works on any telephone compatible with a hands free system
With the SafteyCell you'll be able to:
- Call home to let your family know you've reached your destination safely.
- Call your client and tell him you've arrived for the meeting, while the
engine's still running!
- Close your flight plan quickly and easily, before you ever leave the
aircraft.
- Get your IFR Clearance at uncontrolled fields.
- Contact an FBO or Rental Car Agency that can't be reached by radio.
- Attach your personal stereo into the auxiliary jack of the unit, and
you'll be able to listen to your favorite tunes - without a costly intercom
and stereo system in your aircraft.
- Plug a tape recorder (with a 2.5mm jack) into the cellular phone portion
of the unit, and you now have a cockpit voice recorder.
Note: The FCC does not allow the use of a cell phone in an airplane while in
flight. Current regulations allow cell phone use in the cockpit while the plane
is on the ground.
Uses one 9V battery (not included).
Which SafetyCell Cell Phone Adapter is right for you?
There are a number of SafetyCell models available (Standard Non-Amplified,
Amplified, Battery Powered, Amplified Helicopter, Battery Powered Helicopter,
and Bose). Here's a quick guide to
help you choose the right one:
- Standard
non-amplified SafetyCell: If you fly in a very quite cockpit environment (i.e. business jet) then
the standard
non-amplified SafetyCell should be good enough for you.
For the best reception you still may want to consider getting an
Amplified
SafetyCell model.
-
Amplified SafetyCell model: If you fly in a low to medium noise airplane such as a Cessna 150, 152,
172, Piper Warrior, or Piper Archer you should be able to get good reception
with the
Amplified SafetyCell model. However, for best performance we
recommend the
Battery Powered SafetyCell.
-
Battery Powered SafetyCell: If you fly you fly in a medium to loud cockpit environment such as
Cessna 182, 185, 210 310, Cirrus SR-20/SR-22, Beech Bonanza, Piper
Comanche/Twin Comanche, King Air, Mooney, Van's RV, Beech Baron, or any
radial engine then the
Battery Powered
SafetyCell is the way to go for you.
-
Battery Powered Helicopter SafetyCell: If you fly any helicopter with a single plug (U-174/U) panel we
recommend the
Battery Powered Helicopter SafetyCell model. There is also a
Amplified
Helicopter SafetyCell that isn't as loud and is slightly less money,
however it really is worth the extra money to go with the Battery Powered
model for helicopters.
-
Amplified
SafetyCell for Bose: If you use a Bose 6-Pin Panel Mount headset, there is an
Amplified
SafetyCell for Bose which is the right choice for you.

Would'nt even say this is good enough to be 1 Star by Anonymous Customer from Anonymous Location
Pros: None Cons: the product Review: This product is cheaply made and does nt work! Stay away!! Poor amplification (None on MP3 input) crackly destorted radio transmittions. Warrenty??????? MMMMMMMMM have been complaining to Jay of Safetycell for 5 months and receive only empty promises, its got to the point now where he does nt bother to respond to my numerous emails.
Do yourself a favour and stay away from Safetycell, there are similar products on the market that have to be better!

Pros: Good idea Cons: might need a little refinement Review: I had the same problem as the previous 2 people, but I found the phone will work when plugged into the 3.5mm jack. However, the volume was quit low even with the phone and my headset volume turned to max. Perhaps the 3.5mm jack is not amplified. I found an adapter for 3.5mm to 2.5mm online at Circuit City so maybe I will try that to see if volume improves. I got some static through my headset when transmitting as well.

Review: Being the owner of an iPhone I felt I was a bit decieved because the cell phone male input end is hidden in the picture. The iPhone requires a 3.5mm male end and not the "standard" 2.5mm end. SafetyCell support was no help either, after all their adapter list is a year old. Good product but I give it a 0 in the support catagory (from SafetyCell)

Poor Support from SafetyCell by MrMott from Houston, TX
Pros: If you have an antiquated phone it might work well Cons: No updated cell adapters, Bulky, Heavy, and input cord to Helicopter is too short Review: I had almost purchased this product 3 times in the past year, but hav. never bought it due to the lack of updated adapters for cell phones. I have gone from the Motorola RAZER to SLIVER to Samsung Blackjack now to an Apple iPhone. and I figured the input jack would have to work for a iPhone, but the iPhone requires a 3.5mm input, an adapter that is not made by SafetyCell or anyone else. When I contacted SafetyCell the guy on the phone couldn't have cared less. If you have a more popular phone beware.

Pros: Nice to have the cell phone when we are flying. Cons: Needed more instructions with the unit. Review: We had to trip the jack which fits into the Treo phone...works perfectly now!

Q: I am looking for a cell phone adapter that will work on Bose headsets in a loud helicopter. What would you recoment.
Thanksk
Keith
A:
What type of connection do you have with your headset? If it's a single plug (portable) model then this is the right adapter for you. If you have a six-pin panel mount then you would need the SafetyCell for Bose.
