About the author:

June Bonesteel, 1987 National Flight Instructor of the Year, has been flying since 1963, instructing since 1967, and performing aircraft maintenance since 1974.  She holds ATP, Flight Instructor, Ground Instructor, A&P Mechanic, and I.A. certificates, and is rated in both airplanes and helicopters.  As a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) since 1981, conducting flight tests for the Private through ATP including the Initial Flight Instructor Certificate and additional instructor ratings, she knows first hand where the problem areas are on the practical test.

Tuesday, January 05, 2010 Needs an update--last change was 2002 by Leonard from Austin, TX  Pros: comprehensive coverage of material Cons: out of date information & references. not worth the price until updated Review: In 2002, this was probably a great teaching aid. While useful, it is disappointing to see how dated this material has become. I plan to keep mine and correct the errors. The prospective buyer is cautioned to verify answers as changes since 2002 are not included--in aviation this is an eternity. It will take a lot of time to correct and the obsolete references don't help. Some information regarding regulations is just wrong (medical certificate durations). It really goes into depth with pretty much every section of the PTS. IMO it's a bit much for Private oral (seeing as most don't crack 2 hours), but if you want a truly comprehensive guide that actually explains topics instead of just giving the bare minimum response that you can memorize for the examiner.
