• Review: As someone with hearing sensitivity, I've tried numerous high-end hearing protectors. The David Clark 9AN/2 paired with the gel ear seals are among the best in terms of noise attenuation, however, they are a little large and heavy for an adult female head, and I stand at an average female height of 5'7". Several other reviewers mention these hearing protectors are too tight, but I actually found them to be a little loose for me and could not adjust them to be quite tight enough even at the smallest setting. While using a lawnmower, I do still require double protection with earplugs underneath the David Clark 9AN/2.

• Pros: Very effective noise reduction. Easily repaired when damaged or worn.
• Review: An oldy but goody. I have over the course of 45 years worn DC's usually 10a's, 19a's, and 9a's. They all offer excellent noise attenuation but where the 9an/2 takes the palm is in the ability to lock in the headband adjustments if the hearing protector is a single user item, and the easy replaceability of broken headband parts. A small wrench or a pair of pliers is all that is needed. I have broken quite a few headband assemblies over the years, usually at the connection of the dome yoke to the headband. The 9an/2's seem to hold up a bit better than the riveted style of the 10's and 19's and if they do break are slightly cheaper to fix. As received the headsets are a very snug fit which is easily remedied if too uncomfortable by simply bending the headband spring to loosen the fit. Don't get too aggressive with bending the spring because a looser fit may reduce the effectiveness of the noise reduction and if taken to extremes can snap the headset spring in half. As with all DC hearing protectors a complete array of repair parts is available. I have never worn the 27's but they also look tempting with the same pluses as the 9an/2's. If you check the noise by frequency band reduction ratings for the various hearing protectors, available at the DC website, you may find the 27's are a better match for your requirements. In my case 9an/2's at My Pilot Store were the best product at the best price.

• Review: My model 9AN/2 hearing protectors came off USS Enterprise in 1973. I'm just now needing to replace the ear seals. These are one tough set. I rate them a 5 Star Plus 1000. You can't wear them out. What more can you want or expect. If people knew how good they are other competition couldn't make a sale. Anyway enough said.They are the absolute best made.!!!!
