This product is open at both sides, which makes it ideal for storing fold-out Jepp plates, such as airport diagrams at large airports. The open sides allow the page to be folded over the top of chart protector, which is more convenient than pocket-type proctectors, which would require that you remove a folded chart from the pocket before you could read it.
For single-page charts, however, the pocket types are better and more durable. Sometimes these protectors break at the top and bottom. Also, the part of the chart that is outside the protector will be exposed to wear-and-tear.
