Affordable and useful

  • By Ron from Duluth MN USA on Thursday, February 25, 2021
  • Pros: Easily usable in my right hand, inexpensive compared to other throttles, gets the job done.
  • Review: I'm left handed and I choose to fly left handed. The TWCS throttle has been more than satisfactory for my flying style. I use a VKB NXT gladiator lefty, 2 TH MFDs, rudder pedals, and this throttle. I'll admit that I don't currently map any functions to the throttle outside of the throttle function, but I have tested my ability to work the buttons and I feel fully capable of using every button on the device when I do choose to map them...honestly, I've got more buttons on my devices than I need for DCS at the moment. I did use nyogel to lubricate the rails, and I use a shower cap to keep dust out of the innards when I'm not flying.

Good, but not perfect...

  • By Semper Fidelis on Sunday, October 25, 2020
  • Pros: Offers great customization options for flight sims
  • Review: This is a good controller overall, and it will definitely revolutionize your game when it comes to flight simulators (specifically that one that everyone is playing which caused joysticks to go out of stock everywhere), or games like Elite Dangerous, which is what I specifically got it for.

My beef with this controller is that for the price it should be more substantial and better built, from higher quality materials. The plastic feel leaves something to be desired. It's too light, and moves around too easily on the desk. After less than one month of very light use the throttle action is frustratingly sticky, and no longer smooth at all. I've even tried lubricating the rails but it doesn't help much.

Overpriced. I wouldn't buy another one, but at least "My Pilot Store" has the best price on it. Some dealers on Amazon are charging more than twice as much. Absurd.

Nice HOTAS ste throttle

  • By Scott from North Carolina on Thursday, October 15, 2020
  • Pros: Switches feel great.
  • Review: Nice throttle with plenty of accessible buttons and switches. Has good resistance out of the box. There is even an analog lever that is an acceptable rudder pedal stand-in. The linear motion doesn't provide as much position feedback as a pivoting motion, but it's fine. Would be nice to have adjustable detents. The software seems really powerful but requires lots of work to customize setups. Fortunately it isn't necessary to run the software to use the throttle.

Not all that S.M.A.R.T.

  • By KCShelby from Granite Springs NY USA on Thursday, September 24, 2020
  • Pros: Lots of buttons
  • Review: The so-called "Sliding Motion Advanced Rail Tracks" lost their mojo after only a few weeks, and now the throttle motion is pretty sticky. That said, the various buttons, switches, and knobs fill out a HOTAS setup for VR flying.

  • Cons: Feels cheap in the hand, like an overpriced piece of plastic that's going to wear out in no time flat.
