Good unit for one device

  • By Jim from Phoenix AZ USA on Monday, June 25, 2012
  • Pros: Easy to charge, sits nicely on glareshield
  • Cons: Does not support multi-device conncetion, poor advertising on usage.
  • Review: We bought the GPS to be used in a King Air, hoping that both pilot iPads, and customer devices in the cabin could be connected. In fact, you can only have one device at a time be linked to the GPS. The box states "supports multiple devices". What it means is that many different devices are supported by the GPS, but you can only use one at a time. So if you are in a biz aircraft, with a crew compliment of iPads, and a customer with an iPhone in the back, you have to pick which device will be connected. In our case, one iPad was connected, and everyone else suffered.

GPS does not work we;;

  • By A Customer from Bellingham WA USA on Tuesday, August 18, 2015
  • Pros: its compact and easy to set up.
  • Cons: It doesn't even compare to the internal antenna of most newer smart phone.
  • Review: I bought the GPS receiver to use with an iphone(4s no GPS) and ipad (no GPS) in the airplane. First I tested it out in my car and found it very slow picking up satellites and often lost the signal. I compared it with two other devices (RINO,In touch) and found they both received strong signals. In the airplane it was also very weak even while holding it up against side windows at fl400. In contrast my co-pilot's galaxy phone was receiving up to 6 satellites at a time prompting him to laugh at my purchase.

Just STOPS WORKING

  • By NEIL from SEATTLE on Thursday, January 29, 2015
  • Pros: WORKS FINE FOR AWHILE
  • Cons: THEN STOPPED BEING ABLE TO ESTABLISH POSITION
  • Review: WORKED GREAT FOR 6 MONTH...... THEN WONT CONNECT TO SATELLITES FOR POSITION.
NOT A GOOD PURCHASE GIVEN THE USEFUL LIFE.

Doesn't work with Nexus 7

  • By bajadrifter from Huntersville NC on Tuesday, January 01, 2013
  • Pros: good for iPad
  • Cons: not for latest Android tablets
  • Review: I bought this unit to use Garmin Pilot on my Nexus 7 Android table. It turns out that the XGPS150A does not work with the latest release "jellybean" of the Android operating system. I called Dual customer service and they said they are aware of the problem and they have their engineers working on it. That was a week ago and still no update.

The XGPS work well with the iPad...just not yet with the highly desirable Nexus 7.

  • Review: After using this device a couple of times, the switch, which allows one to utilize both Apple iOS and Android devices, broke. In my opinion, this unit is poorly constructed and is total waste of money! Due to its limited battery life, you really need an alternate source of power to effectively use this receiver for navigation. My Galaxy 8 Android phone does a better job of tracking satellites than this unit.
