Pros: the intereractive practice tests gave good experience in taking the tests and become familiar with the questions/answers
Cons: found that the questions were not complete relative to the material. Apparently the FAA has added new material and ASA has not caught up with the new material.
In general, I have liked ASA study courses in the past. I recently took the FOI test after studying the latest version of ASA's Certified Flight Instructor Test Book. While I did pass the test with a mid 80's score, there were numerous questions on the FAA test that were not covered in the study book. My practice test scores were always in the high 90's. There was new subject matter on the test that wasn't covered in the book so there was no way to be prepared for the questions. There are no reference books to use for the FOI (that I know of) so the individual is forced to use something like ASA or other's study guides.
I haven't taken the Flight Instructor Test yet but I hope the study book is more complete for that phase.
