Delicate & weak

  • By Jupiterus from TITUSVILLE FL USA on Tuesday, August 24, 2010
  • Pros: Soft and light
  • Cons: quick deteriorated
  • Review: I bought this to replace the original seals which last only after 8 months of usage, it's true that I am using too much the headset, I am flying about 750 hrs/year on helicopter (AW139) but this is what is made for!

Zulu service

  • By A Customer on Wednesday, August 10, 2011
  • Pros: light and good anr
  • Cons: parts wear too quickly, no passive when batteries die, despite what their advertisements tell you.
  • Review: Service is no where near as good a David Clarke. The ear seals wear very quickly, also the volume rocker for the left ear broke off. Lightspeed said they will not replace any of these parts.
Previous headset, David Clarke ANR, sent in once for repair, they fixed the problem and they put new earseals on, a new headband, new microphone muffle and polished the cups, for FREE!!!
Lightspeed should do the same, as their headsets are a lot more fragile, still good though and light, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Comfortable... But----

  • By A Customer from Tampa FL USA on Wednesday, April 03, 2013
  • Pros: Comfort, function, features
  • Cons: Durability ???
  • Review: I love my Zulu (the original Zulu)... But...
It is very very comfortable, the Bluetooth is great for getting clearances on the ground... and the noise reduction is perfect... But..
The soft leather on the ear cup split in a year and replacements are not cheap. I guess you can't have everything.

Light duty

  • By A Customer from Overland Park KS USA on Wednesday, September 01, 2010
  • Pros: Lightwieght, bluetooth and ipod plug
  • Cons: No passive sounds protection
  • Review: I like my Zulu except it is a bit fragile and light duty and needs more clamping pressure for helicopter operations. The ear cups and headband are fragile and wear rapidly. If batteries fail in flight the headset is worthless and a hazard due to no passive sound reduction. Battery life is great.
