Just what the Bonanza owner/buyer needs.

  • By Gayle from Fredericksburg TX USA on Wednesday, December 01, 2010
  • Pros: To the point.
  • Cons: Would prefer a greater expansion of emergency procedures and checklists.
  • Review: Great book. Met all expectations. Answers virtually every systems and performance question about the Bonanza. When combined with Larry Ball's book, they provide a wonderful resource regarding a remarkable airplane.

Excellent for any high performance single

  • By JOEL from ROCKY FACE GA USA on Monday, June 15, 2009
  • Pros: the depth I was seeking
  • Cons: Mathmatically challenging at times
  • Review: This book is another excellent textbook by this author (John Eckalbar). A pilot of any high performance single will find plenty to occupy the time on the ground.  A very challenging read with plenty of depth to satisfy pilots looking for more detail on power management and advanced aerodynamics.

A must read for all Bonanza pilots

  • By A Customer from Houston TX USA on Thursday, April 21, 2022
  • Pros: Flying by the numbers works and is well explained.
  • Cons: At times the book tries to cram 75 years and dozens of Bonanza models in.
  • Review: Aside from a few typos this is an excellent book.

I bought my first copy of the book before I bought my Bonanza 15 years ago. I have read it cover to cover several times and I consult it from time to time for specific topics.

The heart of the book is "flying by the numbers". To get the full benefit of the book, it is helpful to actually experiment for oneself how changes in power, attitude and configuration affect performance.
